Hawthorn Hawks: Won over Port Adelaide, 80-49
A modern-day rivalry has developed over the past two years between the Brisbane Lions and the Hawthorn Hawks.
The scene has been set at the Gabba, where these two sides will battle this Saturday night.
Chris Fagan coached the Lions in two victories over the Hawks last season and will try to make it three in a row this week.
Brisbane sits sixth on the ladder with six wins for the season, a very strong effort that puts them ahead of schedule in their journey to the finals.
Alastair Clarkson has given his Hawks hope this season, giving the younger players more games and invigorating the list.
With the bye upcoming for the Hawks, this will be a very fast-paced and electric match, which will differ from their slow style from earlier in the season.
Six changes have been made across both sides, with Hawthorn bringing back Isaac Smith whilst Rhys Mathieson returns for the Lions.
Brisbane vs Hawthorn Round 11 goal kicking tips
Jarryd Lyons to kick a goal @ $1.91 at Sportsbet
Lyons has played every match for the Lions this season since crossing over from the Gold Coast and has been one of the most valuable players in the squad. He has kicked three goals for the season but hasn’t spent much of his time forward of the ball. With Oscar McInerney and Mitchell Hinge coming out of the side, the forward role could be filled by Lyons this week.
Chad Wingard to kick two goals @ $2.60
Wingard is yet to play a breakout game for the Hawks since being traded from the Power, but this could be the week he does. Wingard has kicked 15 goals in the eight matches he has played against the Lions, and they still do not have a matchup for the young star. If he gets Luke Hodge, he will utilise his speed to beat the old Hawk.
Lions vs Hawks Round 11 player disposal odds
Dayne Zorko to get 25 disposals @ $2.50
The team that Dayne Zorko has the highest disposal average against is Hawthorn. His last three performances have been 31, 30 and 24 disposals, with the most recent match being a tight slog. Zorko has started to get better each week after a slow start to the season. Zorko will use the mismatch against Jaeger O’Meara to get outside and play well this week.
Ricky Henderson to get over 27.5 disposals @ $1.95
Henderson has started the season like a house on fire. The form he has built over the past three weeks has been amazing, with 36, 30 and 37 disposals respectively. Henderson will continue this form and get over 27.5 touches.
Brisbane vs Hawthorn Round 11 total points betting
Under 165.5 total points @ $2
With Harris Andrews at full-back for the Lions, the Hawks will have a low scoring week, but Brisbane will also find it difficult to score. The Lions will still surpass the 80 mark, but if the Hawks don’t kick well in front of goal, it will be a low-scoring affair.
