Labor narrowly ahead of Best Party in SA Election betting
We’re sure Nick Xenophon is keeping a close eye on the betting for the South Australian State Election, and he will like what he is seeing from his newly-formed Best Party.
The anti-gambling crusaders party is locked in a three-way tussle with Labor and Liberal in what is shaping as one of the tightest races ever seen and that is clearly reflected by the betting.
Online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au has Labor as the $2.25 favourites with SA Best close behind on $2.55 and the Liberals not ruled out on $2.85.
But in terms of the hold of money wagered, Labor lead the way with 54% of total money placed, the Liberals have 36% and SA Best the remaining 10%.
“The odds indicate a close result but the punters are clearly predicting a Labor win as they hold more than SA Best and the Liberals combined,’’ said the bookies’ representative Will Byrne.

Liberals favoured to win Tasmanian Election
The Liberal party is favourites to take 12 seats in the Tasmanian State Election this Saturday according to online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.
Labor is tipped to take 10 seats and with 2 likely to go to the Greens, as to which way the final seat will go – the bookies have it as too hotly contested to call.
“We’ve got the individual count in the seat betting putting Will Hodgman’s Liberal party as favourite in 12 seats, Labor with 10 and the Greens with 2. It’s looking more than likely that Tasmania could be headed for a hung parliament,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ella Zampatti.
