Spain: $1.62 with Sportsbet
Australia: $2.55 with Bet365
Australia and Spain will do battle on Friday for a place in the championship match of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The entire tournament has been blown open with both Serbia and USA being eliminated in the quarter-finals.
The Boomers have a chance to win their first-ever FIBA World Cup medal, after finishing fourth on multiple occasions, but Spain will be their toughest opponent yet.
Ricky Rubio and Marc Gasol have been playing the leadership role for Spain thus far, leading by example on many plays with help from Juancho Hernangomez.
Spain knocked off Poland in the quarters, while the Aussies defeated a dangerous Czech Republic side.
Both teams have beaten strong opponents to get where they are. Spain defeated Serbia comfortably and Australia beat France, who will play Argentina in the other semi-final.
Australia struggled with their shooting against the Czech Republic. Patty Mills was the only player to score more than 15 points, while Chris Goulding put up 14 points but shot 4-11 from beyond the arc.
This match will be a quick and entertaining clash that may even overshadow the FIBA World Cup final.
Spain vs Australia betting predictions
Patty Mills over 21.5 points @ $1.83 with Ladbrokes
Despite shooting 6-9 from the three-point line, Mills only scored 24 points against the Czech Republic. Tomas Satoransky applied heavy defence to the smaller Mills, but he still found a way to get open. If Ricky Rubio and the other Spanish guards do not target Mills, he will explode in another scoring frenzy.
Ricky Rubio over 25 points and assists
With an average of 15 points and five assists per match in the World Cup, Rubio is one of the most dangerous players on the court. He has a very keen sense of occasion and often makes big shots when Spain needs a break. Ricky will find a way to avoid Matthew Dellavedova and combine for 25 points and assists in this critical match.
Joe Ingles over 10.5 points @ $1.83 with Ladbrokes
Ingles did not shoot the ball well in the match against the Czechs, scoring only six points and shooting 0-4 from three-point land. The Utah Jazz man has been following a pattern where he scores low and then high, with this match set to be his high total. The Spanish players will not be able to guard both his three-point shot and his strong drive to the rim.
Australia to win @ $2.55 with Bet365
We backed the Aussies as underdogs against the French and we think they can knock off another powerhouse European side. The Spanish rely too heavily on Gasol and Rubio, while the Boomers have a range of stars across the court.
