Choice Princess to continue Adams’ upsets
Veteran trainer Fred Adams is looking to continue his recent run of upsets when he makes a rare Saturday visit to Doomben with Choice Princess.
Adams has been one of Queensland’s most respected trainers for decades and has had many handy horses including Fossicker, a sprint star of the 1980s.
Choice Princess, a last-start Gold Coast metropolitan restricted-class winner when backed from $26 into $16, will have her first open company start at Doomben on Saturday.
She was the second long-priced winner Adams has produced in recent times with Steal A Diamond winning at $101 at another Gold Coast metropolitan meeting in June.
Adams has been having a good run with six winners from limited runners in the past two months, mainly at Brisbane provincial tracks.
“I only have about half a dozen horses in work at a time. I tend to take things along as they come at this stage of my career,” Adams said.
He believes Choice Princess will handle 2000m and thought Saturday’s race was not too hard.
Apprentice Ruby Ride has been booked for Choice Princess, ensuring the mare will carry 51kg on Saturday.
