Monday night BBL action returns to the MCG with the Melbourne Stars hosting the now red-hot Brisbane Heat. The Heat are coming off one of the upset wins of the season, taking down the Strikers in Adelaide, while the Stars are reeling after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in their local derby.

The Stars are little to no chance of making the Big Bash League finals now, needing sides like the Heat, Hurricanes and Thunder all to lose all their matches. However, the Heat need to win each of their four remaining matches in order to secure a spot in the playoffs.

The Stars are a hard side to tip given their lack of star power and recent poor performances. The Heat have shown they are able to set small or big totals and defend them, but the Stars struggle to win at all. The Heat are the safest bet to win at the ‘G, paying $1.67 with BetOnline.

Josh Brown continues to impress at the top of the batting order for the Heat in BBL 12. Playing every ball on its merits, the former Queensland Second XI player bats with a clear mind and hits the ball harder than most. Kuhnemann will play a huge role for the Heat and is great value to take two or more wickets ($2.75).

The beginning of the innings will be enormous for each side’s confidence. Usman Khawaja and Joe Clarke are the most influential batters in their side because they can handle any conditions they face and anchor an innings. Whatever conditions the MCG throws up, these two will have to assess them quickly and communicate with their batting partner and team to give their respective sides the best chance of success.
