The BBL is fast approaching the finals as the Sydney Sixers and the Adelaide Strikers are set to clash in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday. This match is vital for the Strikers if they are to cement their spot in the playoffs, while the Sixers are all but guaranteed a place in the business end of the season.

The Strikers have the two most prolific runscorers and, still, one of the most successful bowlers in the Big Bash League. However, Sixers quick Sean Abbott has taken 19 wickets in the season and will be one of the largest figures standing in the way of the Strikers.

The Sixers were impressive beating the Scorchers on Sunday night at the SCG.  However, the Strikers are adjusting to the inclusion of Test stars Alex Carey and Travis Head in partnership with Matt Short. Peter Siddle is also back to assist with the ball. On paper, the Strikers are better value to win this match, paying $2.20 with BetOnline.

Coming off terrific summer against the red ball, Head will be the best-equipped batter in the Strikers side to assess the conditions quickly on a ground that is rarely used in BBL cricket. He is one of the form batters in the country and can’t stay out of T20 runs too much longer. At around $4 with online bookmakers, he is a great bet to be Adelaide’s leading runscorer.

Hayden Kerr was enormous for the Sixers against the Scorchers when he dismissed the dangerous Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner rather cheaply. The emerging allrounder bowls the tough overs in powerplays, often when the opposition’s most damaging batters are at the crease. Kerr will surely be tasked with taking down Head, Short and Carey at a key stage. On a wicket that will be somewhat unpredictable, Kerr is a great chance of taking two or more wickets at $2.20.

Key matchup: Travis Head v Sean Abbott

The battle at the top of the Strikers’ batting innings will almost certainly decide the outcome of the match. Head’s form is undeniable, as is Abbott’s in the BBL with the ball. Abbott has a knack of being either incredibly uneconomical, or incredibly economical while taking wickets. Should the strike bowler Abbott arrive in Coffs, taking plenty of wickets without conceding runs, the Strikers will find it difficult to set or chase a total in trying to beat the high-flying Sixers.
