Saturday Slingshot: Horse racing best bets for November 5, 2022

The Saturday Slingshot presented by Bettingsite.com.au is here and it brings you the best bets for horse racing in Australia on Saturday, November 5, 2022 to help you launch into a winning weekend on the punt.

All odds are provided by leading online bookmakers recommended by Bettingsite.com.au

Flemington Race 2: #8 Aesop @ $3.60

We do not need to wait too long for our best bet of the day, as the Phillip Stokes-trained Aesop steps out in the second event of the day. The five-year-old gelding was a complete forgive run at Caulfield last time out where he simply did not handle the Heavy 8 and is sure to appreciate the firmer ground on Saturday. From barrier 11, look for Jamie Kah to have this bloke settled midfield with cover and if he is anywhere near his performance in his dominant victory at Sandown two starts back over 1800m, he looks the one to beat. He should be rock hard fit and under a well-rated steer from Kah, Aesop should have a bit too much class about him in a field like this.

Rosehill Race 4: #7 Naval Seal @ $3.30

Our best bet of the day will come up in race four, where we are siding with the Chris Waller-trained Naval Seal, who will be second-up this Saturday after running a very good race first-up over 1600m behind Mahagoni on October 22. This lightly race four-year-old gelding will have taken a lot of benefit from his first run back from a spell, and will now be ready to win in a race that looks very winnable over 1800m. William Pike will stick with this talented galloper after riding him first-up last start, while he also rode this guy when he won last preparation over the Rosehill 1800m. This son of Snitzel has been to this track and trip once before for a win, so we don’t see any reason why he cannot go two from two on Saturday. Pike will have him out the back and looking to run on, so we expect to see him getting to the outside on the home turn and letting down with a big finish late.

Morphettville Race 5: #7 Daring Move @ $3.10

In the Benchmark 86 Handicap over 1000m for the speedsters, we will be siding with the Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Daring Move as she looks to complete a hattrick of wins on Saturday. This four-year-old mare has compiled an ultra-impressive record throughout her career, winning four from six to date, with all four of those wins coming at the 1000m. Even though this girl hasn’t been to Benchmark 86 grade before, her last two wins have been impressive and her on-pace racing style gives her every chance, especially on the Parks track which seems to favour leaders. With a lot of natural leaders and many of them coming from wider barriers, Barend Vorster should be able to sit in the one-one and come off the leader’s heels in the straight to hopefully run away with the prize late.

Ascot Race 5: #5 Bustler @ $2.45

In the Listed Farietha Stakes for the three-year-old colts and geldings over 1400m we have sided with the unbeaten, Bustler, for the Neville Parnham yard. This three-year-old gelding has won his first three starts in his career over 1000m and 1200m, meaning this race on Saturday will be his first start over 1400m. After running away from the field at his most recent start, we expect that the 1400m will be no problem for this son of Playing God, who will be looking to go four from four to start his very bright career. Steven Parnham has ridden this talented galloper at all three of his race starts, so he will know exactly what this guy likes and how to settle him. All he needs is a bit of luck in running and he should be winning his first Listed race of his career.
