The Dion Luciani-trained mare has finished third and fourth in her two starts in Listed grade this preparation, where she was held up in the home straight on both occasions. After drawing barrier 10, Brad Parnham will have to push forward and sit outside the likely leader, Ima Single Girl, and take luck out of the equation. If Duchess Of Gossip gets across without doing too much work, she will prove extremely difficult to run down.

Eagle Farm Race 9: #10 Bezique @ +110

In the penultimate, Bezique will be seeking a hat-trick of wins to kick off her third racing preparation. Last time out, this daughter of Spirit Of Boom saluted as a heavily backed favourite at Doomben over 1200m on December 8. Ben Thompson has ridden the four-year-old mare in both of her starts this time in and knows her very well. With little to no speed influences in this race, Bezique should be able to settle in the top two before clicking it up at the top of the straight to pull away late.

Moonee Valley Race 6 #8 Yellow Sam @ +300

With a BM64 win at Donald and three strong placings in town prior to heading to the paddock, Yellow Sam will be looking to add to a smart first-up record. The Ready For Victory mare has two wins and two seconds from four fresh runs, and from barrier one under Fred Kersley, she draws to gain every advantage in running. She looks set to stalk market fancy South Of Houston throughout, and with even luck on the home turn, Yellow Sam can sprint the best in the run home.

Randwick Race 9: #4 Aristonous @ +190

Aristonous made a promising return from a spell at this course on December 9, closing off impressively over an unsuitable trip. The 1600m proved too sharp for the son of Saonois, particularly due to the lack of tempo supplied by his rivals. He still savaged the line to secure a third-place finish, and with the immediate step up in trip to the 1800m a key factor, watch for Aristonous to show his class second-up.

Murray Bridge Race 4: #2 La Defense @ +110

La Defense is chasing a fourth straight win this campaign, and there does not look to be any reason why he cannot make it happen. The five-year-old gelding continues to give his rivals a big start, coming from the rear of the field and blousing his opponents in impressive fashion. This is his first look at Murray Bridge, but considering the length of the straight at the Bridge, La Defense should have no issues building through his gears and thundering over the top of his rivals once again.
