All odds are provided by leading online bookmakers recommended by Bettingsite.com.au

Ascot Race 2: #9 Truly Inspired @ $2.30

Our best bet of the day will come up in race two, where the Adam Durrant-trained Truly Inspired will be attempting the 2200m for the first time after coming off a dominant win at Ascot on November 9 over 1800m. This lightly raced six-year-old gelding has only had seven starts for his career, recording two wins and one placing. This son of Dundeel was a very short $1.45 favourite at his last start and he won the way a long odds-on favourite should win, eased down by 3.4 lengths. After winning so easily in an easier race over 1800m with 60kg, there should be very little worries about him running out the 2200m with 55.5kg on his back. William Pike will stick with this guy after riding him to victory last start and from barrier three, Pike should have this guy in the one-one and give him every opportunity to repeat the dose on Saturday.

Kembla Grange Race 3: #2 Smirk @ $7.50

Our best of the day is set to run in the third race on the card, over the 2000m at BM78 level, in the form of the Chris Waller-trained mare Smirk. She’s third-up and looks a fantastic price, and after two prep runs up in Queensland over the 1600m she steps back in grade here and goes up to the 2000m for the first time since being competitive against the likes of Gypsy Goddess in the Queensland Oaks on June 4. She was only 2.7 lengths away on that occasion to end her three-year-old campaign and has been crying out to step up in trip after being kept to the shorter distances early in her four-year-old season. She looks to return to NSW a winner here, and with Zac Lloyd booked to ride from a perfect barrier, the $7 with online bookmakers shouldn’t last. Her opposition don’t have as much depth in their form, so we’re happy to snap up the price.

Ballarat Race 2: #1 Kings Consort @ $3.00

We will be looking to make our mark early on Saturday when the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Kings Consort steps out in the Eureka Stockade worth $175,000. Despite struggling in tougher company in two runs this campaign, the three-year-old gelding has been hitting the line with great intent at both starts and looks primed for this assignment third-up. He wasn’t beaten too far in multiple battles with the smart Quang Tri during the winter and in a small field of six, he will not be far from the speed throughout despite being a genuine backmarker. Race favourite Deekay will look to make this a genuinely run event and armed with a strong turn of foot, we expect Ethan Brown to have Kings Consort building through the gears and ultimately prove too hard to hold out.

Sunshine Coast Race 7: #9 Je Suis Belle @ $2.00

Our best bet of the day will come up in race seven over 1000m, where the Mark Currie-trained Je Suis Belle look very hard to beat after an impressive return from a six-month spell. First-up over 1000m at Eagle Farm this six-year-old mare sat at the back of the field and ran on strong only to go down by a head on the line to Simply Fly, who had the tactical advantage of being a pair further forward in the running. This daughter of Bel Esprit has an outstanding career record, only missing the placings once in her career to go along with eight wins from her 18 starts. Ryan Maloney will take the ride on this girl for the first time and from barrier four he should be able to hold a position one horse off the rail and settle in the first half of the field. With even luck, this girl should be recording ninth win for her career on Saturday.

Morphettville Race 8: #6 Takshaka @ $2.90

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Takshaka looks to be a colt with plenty of potential having won both of his career starts. The son of Lord Kanaloa managed to lead throughout at the Morphettville Parks 1250m, and we expect he will be able to do that once again on Saturday. This is without a doubt a step up in class, but with natural early speed from the barrier and a low draw of barrier three under Todd Pannell, he looks a clear best bet of the day. On paper, Takshaka looks set to gain an uncontested lead throughout the 1250m scamper and with a cheap sectional down the back, we expect he will bring up a third win from as many starts.
