Caulfield Race 5: #1 Inundation @ $1.60

Inundation silenced all doubters with his dominant win at the Caulfield 1000m on June 25. Stepping up to the 1100m on Saturday, he simply looks too good in this three-year-old event for colts and geldings. Last time out, Jye McNeil had him settled outside the leader from barrier 10, and from barrier 11 this time around, we expect a similar recipe for success. With Hallowed Ground set to take up the running, look for McNeil to have him settled on the girth of his rival throughout this 1100m event. When asked for an effort at the top of the straight, Inundation should be putting a couple of lengths on his rivals in quick fashion. He is a three-year-old with plenty of talent and, despite the short quote, he is a clear best bet of the day.

Randwick Race 6: #1 Easy Single @ $2.50

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained sprinter Easy Single is building a nice racing record with four wins and four runner-up performances from 10 starts. The four-year-old son of Not A Single Doubt won at Flemington first-up, before getting nosed out by Siege over 1000m at this track on June 11 on a Soft 5. While he is yet to race on a heavy track, Easy Single has won three races on soft tracks, indicating that he should handle the conditions. From barrier three, apprentice jockey Ellen Hennessy will go handy to the speed in this 1100m contest and put her mount well and truly within striking distance.

Doomben Race 5: #7 Goldsborough @ $2.80

Goldsborough proved the heavy track was no problem on Saturday at the Sunshine Coast, pulling away the last little bit in a 1000m Benchmark 90 to win by a length. That was just the second run back from a long break for the Gary Duncan-trained four-year-old, so he should take plenty of improvement out of it. First-up, he was beaten narrowly by The Big Goodbye, who meets him 3.5kg worse at the weights, so Goldsborough looks to hold the key there, while the likes of Garibaldi and Mass Destruction will want it drier.

Gawler Race 4: #6 En Francais @ $2.45

The Jake Stephens-trained En Francais is the definition of consistency, but with one win and four minor placings from five starts, another win is well overdue. The four-year-old draws barrier one, which is a slight concern as she is a genuine backmarker. If apprentice Lachie Neindorf can get the Puissance De Lune mare off the fence approaching the home turn, she has the turn of foot to put this field away in a couple of strides. She won on debut at Gawler on April 25, 2021, and despite not tasting success since that day, we expect a second win to come for En Francais on Saturday.

Belmont Race 5: #2 Bitofmerit @ $2.20

Bitofmerit will be shooting for four consecutive victories to kick off his career when he lines up in Saturday’s 1200m 3YO Handicap. The Michael Campbell-trained son of Demerit has been very impressive winning his first three starts, with the most recent of those coming off a six-month spell when he stepped out at this track on June 25 over 1000m. Lucy Warwick has ridden Bitofmerit in all three starts, so she is getting to know the three-year-old very well, which will be handy as the horse steps out beyond 1000m for the first time. From gate nine, Warwick won’t be rushing this horse to find a forward position, as he has come from different places in the run in all three wins. This doesn’t look any harder.
