Saturday Slingshot: Horse racing best bets for December 3, 2022

The Saturday Slingshot presented by Bettingsite.com.au is here and it brings you the best bets for horse racing in Australia on Saturday, December 3, 2022 to help you launch into a winning weekend on the punt.

All odds are provided by leading online bookmakers recommended by Bettingsite.com.au

Ascot Race 4: #9 Category Three @ $2.60

Our best bet of the day at Ascot will be the Adam Durrant-trained Category Three who will be looking to break through for her first win of the preparation after flying home to finish second at both of her starts this time in. At her most recent start, this daughter of Xtravagant was held up around the home turn and had to make two different runs, one to get into clear running room and then another to flash home and only go down by a head on the line. William Pike will stick with this mare on Saturday after riding her last start, and there is no doubt in our mind that he will be looking to keep this girl out of trouble this time and allow her to build her momentum. If she gets an ounce of luck in the final 400m and finds clear air, she will be storming home late.

Pakenham Race 4: #4 Najem Suhail @ $4.40

Firmer ground is a massive plus for the Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock-trained Najem Suhail and on recent form, looks a clear best bet of the day at Pakenham. The five-year-old broke his Australian maiden at Sale two starts back when leading throughout and putting 3.25-lengths before chasing home Snapper at Flemington on November 5 when finishing second. He managed to beat home Hypothetical on that day who has since come out and bolted in at Ballarat franking the form. From barrier 12, Blake Shinn will need a bit of luck in finding the rail, but if afforded that luxury, Najem Suhail is a genuine sprinter and has the ability to burn the candle at both ends. With $4.40 on offer with online bookmakers, we’re hoping Najem Suhail can build us a bank ahead of the quaddie legs.

Rosehill Race 4: #7 Frumos @ $2.35

Saturday should see the winning return of boom five-year-old mare Frumos when first-up in this 1350m contest. It’s been 98 days and two slick barrier trials since this daughter of Kitten’s Joy has returned to the races and looks to be back in terrific order based on the trials leading into this race on Saturday afternoon. Prior to that, her last appearance at the races on August 27 when beaten 0.5 lengths to Hope In Your Heart reads outstanding for this BM78 contest and if she returns with that form, on paper she’s clearly the one to beat in this field. She’s been luckless her last two performances and could even be undefeated provided things fell her way. Kerrin McEvoy takes the reins here and we’re hoping he can take luck out of the equation, find leaders back throughout, before letting down with her electric turn of foot. At her best, Frumos is simply too good for this lot.

Doomben Race 6: #1 Spiritualised @ $2.60

Our best bet of the day will be the Tony Gollan-trained Spiritualised in the colts and geldings’ plate over 1200m, where he will be first-up returning from a three-month spell. This son of Spirit Of Boom has been given a trial before his first-up run, where he won the trial over 1000m easily by over 2.5 lengths, eased down in the final 100m. This three-year-old colt has never missed the top two placings at his six career starts, while he won his last two starts before going out for a spell in August over 1200m at Eagle Farm and Doomben, winning by a combined margin of 4.75 lengths. James Orman will continue his association with this colt on Saturday, after riding him at his last three starts and in his most recent trial. From barrier eight this guy will have to show his customary early speed to find the front, and if he finds the front without doing a power of work, we expect to see him return with a win.

Morphettville Race 1: #2 My Khalifa @ $2.40

We will be looking to make our presence known early on Saturday when the Gordon Richards & Damien Moyle-trained My Khalifa pushes to make it four successive wins on the Parks track. The four-year-old gelding has put together three straights wins in impressive style when giving his rivals a start and then a beating each time. The race looks perfectly set up for Todd Pannell to take a sit off the leaders drawn directly outside of him and have My Khalifa peeling off their backs inside the final furlong. The Pride Of Dubai progeny has a strong turn of foot for BM78 grade and with even luck in a small field where tactics will be crucial, My Khalifa should simply be too good for this lot once again.
