Raiders vs Knights NRL betting preview
The Newcastle Knights come into this one as huge outsiders considering their injuries and their enormous get-out-of-jail performance against Penrith.
While Mitchell Pearce has been named to start, he will most likely be a late scratching – so if you fancy Canberra, get on early.
The Knights will get Kalyn Ponga back from suspension and will also have former Bronco Andrew McCullough make his club debut.
Even with these key inclusions, they will still be without Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Mitch Barnett, Gehamat Shibasaki and Connor Watson.
While the Canberra Raiders will come into the match with virtually the same 17 who dismantled Melbourne, they do have the hurdle of travelling three hours to play a ‘home’ game.

Maybe it won’t be a big deal for the Raiders, who have resorted to staying in hotels the night before home games after they found a successful routine for away games in previous years.
The $1.36 at BetOnline for Canberra shows the expectation they now play with as the premiership favourites with the punters, who have backed them into $5 for the flag.
Jack Wighton caused problems for the Knights in their only clash last year and $18 at Sportsbet for first try scorer is well worth a thought.
Bradman Best secured his first career double last start and at $19 he could attract a bit of attention if punters believe Newcastle will be first to cross the stripe.
The returning Ponga is set at $14, with the new rule changes almost certain to make him even more difficult to contain than previously under the two-referee system.
Raiders vs Knights total match points
Total points line for the match sits at 40.5, with unders to be strongly considered due to Newcastle’s vastly improved defence.
Under 40.5 total points
Raiders vs Knights line betting
The line is set at 7.5 points, which gives the Knights a sniff, but you would have to think the Raiders are good enough to win it by a couple of tries at least.
Canberra Raiders -7.5
Raiders vs Knights anytime try scorer
There is plenty of value in this market, but the $3.75 about Bradman Best looks very tasty after his big second half last week.
Bradman Best anytime try scorer
