Rabbitohs vs Knights NRL betting preview
This clash has big ramifications for both clubs at the halfway point of the 2020 NRL season.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs can solidify their recent four wins against less-than-terrorising opposition, while the Newcastle Knights need the two points to remain a genuine chance of finishing in the top four.
Souths have just one win against a top-eight opponent in 2020 and it came last week at the expense of the Tigers.
The Bunnies made Swiss cheese of Wests’ left-edge defence, but they’ll have a much tougher time doing that against a Newcastle side who have defended wonderfully in their last two matches.
Despite having not lost an away game in Sydney this year, the Knights are slight underdogs at $2 while the Rabbitohs hold the slight edge at $1.87.
Newcastle will be without Daniel Saifiti but get Connor Watson, Mitch Barnett and Sione Mata’utia back into the side on the interchange bench.

Souths will be without Latrell Mitchell and Campbell Graham in round 10, with Alex Johnston moving to fullback and Corey Allan coming onto the wing.
With Newcastle only posting 18 total points in their last two games, the over/under is set at just 37.5 for this clash. This is a hard one to predict and it would take a brave man to tip the Knights to struggle in attack again this week.
Souths centres James Roberts and Dane Gagai have never been noted defenders, so they will no doubt be targeted by the likes of Mitchell Pearce and Kalyn Ponga.
Tautau Moga made a powerful return to the NRL last week and is paying as much as $20 to cross the stripe first, while Bradman Best is $15.
For Souths, you can get $13 for Corey Allan or $12 for Jaxson Paulo on debut out wide, but Cody Walker down the left edge at $21 shouldn’t be ignored.
Their form across eight of their first nine games has suggested the Knights are full of mental toughness, so the 1-12 margin at $3.10 will attract plenty of interest.
