Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans betting preview
The NBL Finals have finally arrived and the first match-up sees the Perth Wildcats take on the Cairns Taipans this Friday night.
This year’s NBL playoffs will feature the same format as previous seasons, where teams will play a best-of-three series before moving on to the championship clash.
Having won four of the last six championships, the Perth Wildcats will be the team to beat, but the Cairns Taipans have had the edge over the western powerhouse this season.

The Taipans won two of their three clashes with Perth this season and even saluted at RAC Arena, the venue for the opening game of the series.
Both sides boast some of the league’s best guards. The Wildcats will start with the dynamic duo of Bryce Cotton and Terrico White, while Scott Machado will lead the way for Cairns.
Whoever win game one will take one step closer to the championship series, where they will face either the Sydney Kings or Melbourne United.
Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans player points tips
Bryce Cotton 25+ points
The reigning NBL MVP has scored efficiently for the Wildcats all season, and he will not slow down when the finals come around. This Friday will be the prime-time opportunity Bryce Cotton has been waiting for, as he always lifts in the biggest matches. Cotton has scored 124 points in his last five matches, for a very strong average of just under 25 points.
Majok Deng 15+ points
Not many of the Cairns player performed well in their last few regular-season matches, but Majok Deng went on a scoring spree. The South Sudanese star scored 20 points in just 17 minutes against the Bullets, boosting his confidence for future matches. If the Wildcats do not try to stop Deng on offence, he could easily get on a scoring run again.
Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans total points odds
Under 173.5 total match points
The Wildcats and Taipans tend to put on low-scoring affairs whenever they clash, so we believe this match will continue along that trend. Furthermore, each of Perth’s last six semi-final games has finished under the total points mark.
Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans betting predictions
Perth Wildcats to win
The Perth Wildcats are clear favourites for this match and we completely agree. The inclusion of Miles Plumlee is game-changing, as there is little doubt the former NBA first-round draft pick will find his feet at NBL level as a star centre. Perth will take out game one at home.
