NRL Round 15 odds, market news and premiership betting
The NRL returns this week after taking a back seat for NSW’s monster win in game two of the 2019 State of Origin series.
A number of big names from that clash will reconvene in Adelaide on Friday night as Sydney and Melbourne resume hostilities in the obvious candidate for game of the round.
This week’s NRL odds come courtesy of Sportsbet.com.au – one of the top online bookmakers for rugby league betting.
Wests Tigers vs South Sydney Rabbitohs
Wests have an excellent opportunity to dud one of the title favourites on Thursday night when they play host to a South Sydney side that has lost three on the bounce. Despite that form, the Rabbitohs are pegged at $1.47 to snap their losing streak against the $2.65 Tigers.
St George Illawarra Dragons vs North Queensland Cowboys
St George Illawarra head into Friday’s fixture in desperate need of a win after six losses in seven games. The bookies have them as $1.55 favourites to win at home nevertheless, leaving North Queensland with $2.40 odds after consecutive defeats to Manly and Wests.
Sydney Roosters vs Melbourne Storm
The bookies cannot split last year’s grand finalists ahead of their marquee match at Adelaide Oval. Sydney won by a point in 2017 and Melbourne returned the favour the following year, so it is not all that surprising to see them locked at $1.90 apiece on the back of a big Origin weekend.
Gold Coast Titans vs Manly Sea Eagles
The end of the season cannot come soon enough for Gold Coast, who sit second from last after their recent defeat to the NZ Warriors. The Titans are $2.30 outsiders at home on Saturday afternoon, with Manly paying $1.60 as they look to close the gap on the top four.
Newcastle Knights vs Brisbane Broncos
Newcastle were on a six-game winning streak when the Storm smashed them 34-4 last time out, so there is plenty of justification for their $1.60 favouritism this weekend. Brisbane are slated at $2.30 to snatch the points at McDonald Jones Stadium after two losses in a row.
Parramatta Eels vs Canberra Raiders
Parramatta continued their impressive home form with a 38-10 mauling of the Broncos two weeks ago, but which half of the NRL’s Jekyll and Hyde will turn up on Saturday night? Canberra have the edge at $1.72, with Parra paying $2.10 on neutral turf at TIO Stadium.
New Zealand Warriors vs Penrith Panthers
Penrith jump across the ditch on Sunday as one of the form teams after following up six straight losses with four consecutive wins. Nathan Cleary is expected to miss, however, which pushes the Panthers’ odds out to $2.20. The NZ Warriors are pegged at $1.65.
Canterbury Bulldogs vs Cronulla Sharks
After six losses in seven rounds, Canterbury are just making up the numbers at this point. It is no surprise to see the wooden-spoon favourites offering the longest match odds of the round at $3.30, with Cronulla paying a mere $1.32 despite losing to the Raiders last time out.
2019 NRL Premiership betting update
Melbourne are two games clear at the top of the table, yet Sportsbet still has Sydney as the team to beat at $3.40 in 2019 NRL Premiership betting. The Storm ($4.50) and the Rabbitohs ($5) round out a breakaway pack at the head of the market, with Cronulla the next best at $10.
