Horse owner fined $3000 over conduct
A racehorse owner has been fined $3000 over an abusive voice message directed at jockey Stephen Baster which was sent to a number of licensed people.
Rory Button was handed the fine by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Friday after pleading guilty to a charge of misconduct, improper conduct or unseemly behaviour.
Subsequent to Cosmic Lights’ late scratching from a race at Flemington on August 5 on veterinary advice, Button, who is in the ownership of the gelding, recorded a voice message which was sent to a number of licensed people including Baster who was due to ride the horse.
