Beer crisis at ANZ? Bookies open NRL Grand Final novelties

ONLINE bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au has posted a selection of light-hearted novelty bets for the 2017 NRL Grand Final.

Many of the big-game staples are accounted for, including $2.50 odds for the crowd to engage in a Mexican wave at some point in proceedings.

A snake made out of empty beer cups ($3) is also a good chance to make an appearance as Melbourne and North Queensland duke it out this weekend.

Too many of those legless lager lizards could bring into play the $101 quote for ANZ Stadium to run out of beer.

There is also a $34 option on the venue to sell out of meat pies.

As for the game itself, the majority of the money is on Melbourne to justify their $1.28 favouritism.

Dally M winner Cameron Smith is odds-on for the 2017 Clive Churchill Medal at $2.75, with Cooper Cronk ($5) and Billy Slater ($7) his closest rivals.
