ACMA blocks another 13 illegal online casinos
Proxous Advanced Solutions Limited has been issued an official warning by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) for breaching the nation’s 2001 Interactive Gambling Act.
The company intentionally supplied its RealTime Gaming software products to 13 online casinos that illegally target Australian gamblers.
The casino sites in question are: Red Dog Casino, Slots Empire, Play Croco, Fair Go Casino, Two Up Casino, Free Spin, Ozwin Casino BoVegas, Uptown Pokies, Uptown Aces, Cherry Gold Casino, Aussie Play, and Reels Of Joy.
The ACMA has further directed that the illegal sites be blocked from offering gambling services to Australians.
“Since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal offshore gambling rules in 2017, more than 170 of these services have pulled out of the Australian market,” the ACMA said in a statement.
“Consumers should be aware that even if an online gambling service looks legitimate, it is unlikely to have important customer protections required of licensed services.”
The ACMA launched BetStop last month in a bid to protect Australian citizens from gambling harm. It enables a player to self-exclude from all phone and online services for anywhere from three months to life.
For any player that activates the self-exclusion services, wagering companies will block such players’ accounts and stop them from placing any bet.
