2016 Rio Olympic Games Thursday, August 11 multi
THE Olympic Games are finally underway and we have already seen some terrific action from the Aussies.
The Australian basketball teams are flying, the swimmers are winning golds left, right and centre and the impartial observers were witness to the great Michael Phelps extend his magnificent Olympic run of success to Rio.
Enough about what has happened though, let’s focus on the future and make ourselves some money.
All odds and times for events are provided by Sportsbet.com.au – dates and start times are subject to change.

Men’s individual fencing sabre
1.45am, Thursday 11th August
One of the sports that is a bit foreign to Australians kicks off our multi on Thursday morning in the form of fencing, and we are expecting a fencer who has winning pedigree to maintain his great form.
We are backing the current European Champion and 2012 London gold medallist, Áron Szilágyi, to go back-to-back at the Olympics.
The Hungarian product has taken almost a year off competitive fencing to prepare for his gold medal defence this year, and we are backing that decision to pay handsome dividends.
Áron Szilágyi to win the gold medal on Thursday night looks to be over the odds and we think it sets us up for a huge dividend if he fulfills his destiny – which we believe he will.
Our tip: Áron Szilágyi to win the men’s fencing sabre gold medal ($5)
Men’s 200m backstroke
2:25am, Thursday 11th August
Coming into the Olympic Games in Rio, one event Aussie swimming fans were awaiting impatiently on was seeing superstar backstroker Mitch Larkin take to the pool.
There are plenty of events Larkin is competing in at Rio, but the 200m backstroke is his pet event.
Larkin has won Gold in the event at last year’s World Championships in Kazan and also in Glasgow at the Commonwealth Games back in 2014.
The 23-year-old looks to have earmarked this event as the one he breaks through for his maiden individual Olympic medal, and we are banking on the colour of that medal being gold.
Our tip: Mitchell Larkin to win 200m backstroke gold medal ($1.45)
Men’s 200m individual medley
3.14am, Thursday 11th August
One of the biggest stories of the Olympic Games thus far in the pool has been the continued dominance of superfreak Michael Phelps, and the American is not even close to being finished.
The 31-year-old is already America’s most decorated Olympic athlete of all-time, and the great man has the opportunity to add to his illustrious gold medal tally in one of his favourite events – the 200m individual medley.
Phelps has won this event at the Olympics three times in a row, we are certain it is going to be a fourth.
Sit back and enjoy the Phelps show; we may never see another athlete like him.
Our tip: Michael Phelps to win the men’s 200m individual medley ($1.83)
Serbia vs. France – Men’s Basketball
3.15am, Thursday 11th August
Last leg of our multi is an interesting matchup between the two sides that the Australians beat back-to-back; Serbia and France.
Both teams are 1-1 after their opening two match ups, recording double digit wins in the matches they were successful in.
The two teams are ranked fourth and fifth in the FIBA rankings respectively, with the edge going slightly to the French.
It bodes well for a great contest.
The French boast a host of big name NBA players that failed to fire against the Aussies, but it is hard to keep the likes of Tony Parker, Rudy Gobert, Nicholas Batum and Boris Diaw down for long.
We are backing the NBA class that the French possess to get them past the Serbians to finish off our multi on a winning note.
Our tip: France to defeat Serbia in the men’s basketball ($1.90)
