Winter Olympics Day 4 predictions & best bets – February 7

Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

Marcus Kleveland will try to win gold as the favorite in the Men’s Slopestyle Snowboarding this Monday at the 2022 Winter Olympics, after Zoi Sadowski-Synnott cashed in as the market elect in the Women’s Slopestyle on Sunday. We will also take a look at two other gold medal events in the Women’s Giant Slalom and the Women’s 15km Individual Biathlon in this Monday’s Winter Olympics best bets.

Snowboarding: Men’s Slopestyle

Three Canadians are among the top five contenders on the betting board to win Men’s Slopestyle gold in Mark McMorris (+325), Max Parrot (+800) and Sebastien Toutant (+900). Redmond Gerard (+425) also can’t be ignored as the winner of this event in 2018. Gerard became the first Winter Olympian born in the 2000s to win gold as a 17-year-old with that victory.

This year, we’re turning to another young star to emerge victorious in 22-year-old Marcus Kleveland (+300). The Norwegian took slopestyle gold in the 2017 and 2018 Winter X Games in Aspen and more recently beat Toutant to take gold in the 2021 Aspen World Championships. Look for Kleveland to make up for his disappointing performance in the 2018 Winter Olympics with a win this time around.

Alpine Skiing: Women’s Giant Slalom

The United States’ Mikaela Shiffrin (+300) is an absolute force in alpine skiing, and it is no surprise to see her top the market for the Women’s Giant Slalom. She became the youngest slalom champion in Olympics history with her gold medal win in the 2014 Winter Olympics, and in 2018 she took gold again in Pyeongchang. Shiffrin is the only alpine skier ever, male or female, to win 15 races in a single calendar year, a feat she accomplished in 2018. To date, Shiffrin has 73 wins and 116 podium appearances in World Cup events and six gold medals in World Championship events.

Shiffrin is her best in regular slalom events, but her performances in the giant slalom discipline speak for themselves as well. She’ll have some stern competition, including Sweden’s Sara Hector (+260) and France’s Tessa Worley (+500), but the American’s experience and consistency make her a strong play in this event.

Biathlon: Women’s 15km Individual

Norway’s Marte Olsbu Roiseland (+450) is the favorite to win gold in the Women’s 15km Individual Biathlon, but there is better value to be found elsewhere. Roiseland has already won gold in Beijing in the Biathlon Mixed Relay and will be a strong contender in other events this winter, including the Women’s 7.5km Sprint and the Women’s 10km Pursuit. A win here is certainly possible, but Roiseland is better at shorter distances.

That leaves Swedish sisters Hanna Oeberg (+550) and Elvira Oeberg (+600) as strong contenders to win, and Italy’s Dorothea Wierer (+650) as a dark horse as well. We’re going to take a shot on Hanna Oeberg here; she won gold in the 15km Individual at the 2018 Olympic Games and also has golds in that event at the 2019 Ostersund World Championships and the 2019 Raubichi European Championships. She’s capable of getting the job done with her best effort on Monday.
