2019 Asian Cup outright odds

While former winners Australia, Japan and South Korea are rightly at the top end of the major Asian Cup betting markets, it is Iran who lead the way after an impressive showing in a tough group at last year’s FIFA World Cup. Saudi Arabia also have a rich history in this competition, but it is shaping up as a shootout between the top four nations.

Group betting for Asian Cup 2019

While only a handful of teams are genuine candidates in the outright betting, the group markets are a different matter altogether. Some sections are stronger than others and there is always the chance of an upset or two in the early stages of the tournament.

Group A
It seems highly unlikely that the winner will come from Group A. It is hard to get a decent read on the UAE, seeing as they didn’t have to go through qualifying, but the hosts are short-priced favourites for good reason.

Group B
Despite injury concerns leading into the competition, it is no surprise to see the Socceroos at short odds to top Group B. Syria, who won many admirers in qualifying, are the best bet to join the Aussies in the knockout rounds.

Group C
Led by English Premier League star Son Heung-min, the Koreans are absolute bankers to progress from Group C. With Philippines goalkeeper Neil Etheridge set to miss the tournament, it looks like China will also go through.

Group D
At last, we arrive at a group with a bit of something about it. Many online bookies have Iran pegged as title favourites, but Iraq – the Cinderella story of 2007 – will give them a fair run for top spot.

Group E
Japan will top the group at a canter, while Uzbekistan should have enough clout to reach the knockout phase. Turkmenistan are a non-factor, but there is some value about Oman to sneak into second place.

Group F
Saudi Arabia are well backed to finish top of the pile, and fair enough too. For Qatar, failure to advance from the group phase would be a massive embarrassment as the nation prepares to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
