Serie A Matchday 20 free soccer betting preview & top odds
Italian football action continues this weekend with 10 matches of Serie A soccer. Here are our predictions for Matchday 20 of the 2023/24 Serie A season.
Genoa vs Torino
Sunday, January 14 – 1am AEDT – Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris
On an excellent run of form and climbing up the table, Genoa will be gutted by the loss of star defender Radu Dragusin during the week. After facing three of the top four sides in the past four weeks, Genoa will be looking for a bit of relief as they face tenth-placed Torino. Fresh off a 3-0 defeat of Napoli last weekend, Torino will be full of confidence, but heading to Genoa, expect this to be a close one.
Draw
Napoli vs Salernitana
Sunday, January 14 – 1am AEDT – Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
Without a goal in their past four matches, Napoli are having a horror run at the moment as they’ve slipped down to ninth on the table. They face the 20th-placed Salernitana this week, who, despite a spirited effort, went down to a late winner against Juventus last weekend. Napoli should be too strong here, but with their terrible offensive form lately, look for this to be a low-scoring affair.
Under 2.5 Goals
Hellas Verona vs Empoli
Sunday, January 14 – 4am AEDT – Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi
A critical match in the relegation fight has the 18th-placed Hellas Verona facing the 19th-placed Empoli. Although they are separated by just one point on the table, there are much greater concerns for Empoli as they have scored the least number of goals in Serie A. Hellas Verona has a much better goal difference, and with the match being held at home, they should be too good here.
Hellas Verona to win
Monza vs Inter Milan
Sunday, January 14 – 6:45am AEDT – U-Power Stadium
After just scraping home with a last-minute winner against Hellas Verona last weekend, first-placed Inter Milan will be looking for a much more comfortable win this weekend. With Juventus right on their tails, Inter need to keep winning as they head to Monza. With 16 goals, including three in his last three matches, keep an eye on Inter striker Lautaro Martinez once again here.
Lautaro Martinez Anytime Goalscorer
Lazio vs Lecce
Sunday, January 14 – 10:30pm AEDT – Stadio Olimpico
After winning their past four Serie A matches in a row, Lazio have now climbed up to seventh on the table, just three points outside the top four. Looking to continue the run, they welcome Lecce, who have just one win in their past 14 matches and haven’t kept a clean sheet in 15 matches. As the form side and the home side, Lazio should be too good here.
Lazio to win
Cagliari vs Bologna
Monday, January 15 – 1am AEDT – Unipol Domus
After a stellar start to the season, Bologna have faltered in the last two weeks, dropping points in both their Serie A matches while also being eliminated from the Coppa Italia. Heading to face the 17th-placed Cagliari this weekend, there is a real chance of an upset as the home side is undefeated in their past five at home. Bologna are also without leading scorer Joshua Zirkzee due to suspension, so we are backing this one to be close.
Draw
Fiorentina vs Udinese
Monday, January 15 – 4am AEDT – Stadio Artemio Franchi
After their upset loss to Sassuolo last weekend, the pressure is now building on Fiorentina to hold onto their fourth spot. Udinese is facing pressure at the other end of the table, sitting just three points clear of the drop zone. Udinese have consistently taken points off of the big sides this season, as they have the most draws in Serie A. However, Fiorentina should be too good here as they bounce back with a win.
Fiorentina to win
AC Milan vs Roma
Monday, January 15 – 6:45am AEDT – Stadio San Siro
The best match of the weekend, two historic Italian sides face off as AC Milan hosts Roma. In the midst of a form slump, Roma have won just one of their past four matches and were also knocked out of the Coppa Italia during the week. They have also struggled against AC Milan in the past, as they haven’t beaten them since 2019. Sat comfortably in third and hosting the match, AC Milan should be too strong here.
AC Milan to win
Atalanta vs Frosinone
Tuesday, January 16 – 6:45am AEDT – Gewiss Stadium
With just one loss from their past eight matches in all competitions, Atalanta are in the midst of an excellent run of form. One of the highest scoring sides in the Serie A, Atalanta will be looking forward to taking on Frosinone, who have conceded the second most goals in the league this season. As a result, look to pair the Atalanta win with over 2.5 goals for added value.
Atalanta & Over 2.5 Goals
Juventus vs Sassuolo
Wednesday, January 17 – 6:45am AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Needing a 93rd-minute winner to get over the 20th-placed Salernitana last weekend, major improvements will be needed this weekend from Juventus as they welcome the dangerous Sassuolo. Fresh off an upset win over Fiorentina last weekend, Sassuolo will fancy their chances of another upset here as they still look to get away from the relegation zone. Watch out for veteran Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi, who scored against Juventus earlier this season and leads the side with nine goals.
Domenico Berardi Anytime Goalscorer
