Saturday Slingshot: Horse racing best bets for November 26, 2022
The Saturday Slingshot presented by Bettingsite.com.au is here and it brings you the best bets for horse racing in Australia on Saturday, November 26, 2022 to help you launch into a winning weekend on the punt.
All odds are provided by leading online bookmakers recommended by Bettingsite.com.au
Ascot Race 1: #5 Revitup @ $2.70
We are looking to start Winterbottom Stakes Day with a winner in the first, when we side with Revitup for the Dion Luciani yard. This three-year-old filly returned from a three-month spell in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes on November 12, where she went down to her stablemate My Bella Mae over 1200m. This daughter of Demerit led the field up in the Placid Ark Stakes and she looked the winner on the home turn when she kicked away and got to a two-length lead on the rest of the field, but it wasn’t to be. There is no My Bella Mae in this field on Saturday and she actually drops half a kilogram to 54kg. William Pike will stick with this filly and with no other speed influence in the race, she should be able to cross the field from barrier seven and take up the lead uncontested. If Pike has this girl in a rhythm after the first 400m and she is allowed to set her own pace, they shouldn’t be able to run her down in the home straight.
Caulfield Race 9: #8 Roots @ $3.20
We save our best for last, when the Chris Waller-trained Roots steps out in the Listed Summoned Stakes. The Press Statement mare was a class above in the Inglis Bracelet on VRC Oaks Day where she gave her rivals a start and a spanking as an odds-on favourite. This is no doubt a step up in class, but considering two starts back she went within a long neck of Group 3 glory in the Tesio Stakes, she looks hard to beat. The Tesio Stakes run was when she was in the worst part of the track on that day and getting back on to firmer going should prove to be no hinderance. Mick Dee hops on board for the first time and as long as the track plays fairly for swoopers, we expect Roots to be thundering down the heart of the track and send us home a winner.
Rosehill Race 2: #1 Colour Sergeant @ $2.25
The second race of the day holds our best bet of the afternoon with James McDonald combining with Mathew Smith and Colour Sergeant. He comes here on the week back-up after a huge effort last weekend at Kembla Grange beaten just 1.7 lengths after making up a stack of ground from the back of the field, in a race that turned out you needed to be on speed to make any kind of impact. Colour Sergeant was the only horse powering to the line on that occasion so stepping back in grade to BM72 grade looks ideal and despite giving this field a significant weight advantage, even with the 59.5kg isn’t going to be an issue against what looks only moderate opposition on paper. James MaDonald hops aboard here for a reason and that’s because this gelding by Kingman should have some quality here, he’ll only need to replicate his effort from last weekend to be in the money and with luck from barrier eight he should be winning.

Gold Coast Coast Race 8: #2 Holyfield @ $2.15
In the Listed Recognition Stakes over 1350m we will be siding with the Annabel Neasham-trained Holyfield, who is coming off a big win first-up in the Listed Keith Noud Quality over 1200m first-up on November 12. Now that this five-year-old gelding is second-up his chance of winning are increased due to his record when second-up, recording two wins and a third from five starts. Second-up last preparation this son of I Am Invincible ran fourth by half a length in the Group 3 BRC Sprint over 1300m, finishing behind Soxagon, Alligator Blood and Niccanova. There will be none of those horses in the Recognition Stakes on Saturday and he will be up against Listed grade and not Group 3 grade, which will make him very hard to beat with even luck this weekend. Brodie Loy will stick with this gelding after riding him to victory last start, and from barrier seven Loy should be able to get across the field and sit in the one-one position to give this guy every chance to go two-from-two this campaign.
Morphettville Race 4: #2 Designs @ $2.80
The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Designs brings a class edge to this BM82 over 2500m, and we expect the five-year-old mare will be the superior stayer on Saturday. She has two wins and a runner-up effort in three starts over the trip and considering she has already tasted success at the track and trip, she looks a clear best bet on Saturday. Jason Holder hops on board from barrier two and from the low draw is all but certain to gain an economical run in transit throughout and on an improving track should only be a benefit. She is rated a $2.80 chance with Marantelli Bet which looks to be massive overs in a race like this.
