All odds are provided by leading online bookmakers recommended by Bettingsite.com.au

Sandown Race 6: #5 Uncommon James @ $3.40

We have the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes down to a race in two in our quaddie, but a clear on top selection and our best bet of the day, Uncommon James looks perfectly placed first=up from a six-month injury layoff. The Steven O’Dea & Mathew Hoysted-trained Queensland has put together five straight wins since his debut second and his win at Caulfield in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes on August 13 was simply breathtaking. He had a fairly comfortable Deagon trial win on January 24 in the lead up to this and with Damian Lane sticking on board, he looks like the one they have to beat. From barrier six, he looks set to gain a cozy run in transit and outside of any bad luck in the home straight, Uncommon James should prove a touch too sharp for Chain of Lightning and the rest of his rivals.

Randwick Race 4: #10 Waterford @ $2.80

Waterford is a better horse than BM88 grade and he comes here first-up to make a statement this time in. He finished his campaign with a win on October 29 in BM78 company toying with his rivals to win going away by 1.3 lengths. He’s had five starts for four wins since arriving in Australia and Chris Waller has him going amazing. He’s had a lovely tick-over trial leading into this behind Kokoro, who has been a subsequent winner first-up as well. You can argue he’s better over a longer trip than 1300m, but we think it won’t matter on Saturday. James McDonald takes the reins and has drawn a very soft barrier to get a gun position and if he gets anywhere near striking distance, he can put them away nicely. He’s got bigger fish to fry later down the track; however, if he wants to be a Group horse going forward, he’ll won’t to be winning a race like this. He gets the best bet tag for the weekend and we’re confident when clear air, he’ll be extremely hard to beat.

Doomben Race 6: #5 Helluva Barty @ $3.60

Our best bet of the day will come up in the first leg of the quaddie, when we side with the very impressive last start winner, Helluva Barty from the Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted yard. This three-year-old gelding has been unlucky at his first two career starts, going down by a combined 0.4 lengths, before returning from a three-month spell on January 11 at this track and trip to break his maiden and record an easy 3.3 length victory. This son of Hellbent returned in fine style last start and looked to have strengthened and taken a lot out of his first preparation and now that he goes into Saturday’s races second-up and fitter, he should prove very hard to beat again. Brodie Loy will stick with this gelding after breaking his maiden on him last start. Even though they have drawn barrier 14 it shouldn’t worry this gelding as he will most likely settle in the back half of the field and run on, trying to replicate his last start victory.

Morphettville Race 2: #5 Jet Jitsu @ $3.40

Our best bet of the day will be the Andrew Bobbin-trained Jet Jitsu who is coming off a very impressive run at Flemington where he finished third, behind Anilla and Allegretta who look to be smart types. This four-year-old gelding has finished in the top three at seven of his last eight starts, including three wins, where has settled at the rear of the field and let down with that customary booming finish he possesses. On Saturday this son of Ajaya will be racing at Morphettville for the second time in his career, with his only other run there resulting in a third place finish over 1200m in a Benchmark 60 Handicap on October 29 last year. Barend Vorster will jump aboard for his first ride on this gelding and his riding style will be perfect for a horse that likes to get back and run on in his races. There looks to be good speed in this race and if Vorster can get to the outside on the home turn, he will blow them away in the final 300m.

Ascot Race 1: #8 Auspicious @ $2.20

We won’t have to wait long for our best bet of the program, with the Simon Miller-trained Auspicious going to the races for the very first time in race one. This unraced filly has been burning up the track at the trials, with both of her trials showing her ability and quality that her owners paid for when they purchased her for $110,000 at the sales in 2020. At her first trial she won by a massive 16 lengths over 400m, where she sustained a blistering speed and was throttled down late, while her second trial saw her win by just over four lengths over 950m. This daughter of I Am Invincible looks to be a very smart filly and clearly has a lot of speed, so we expect to see Brad Parnham to cross the field from barrier 10 and then give them something to chase. Parnham rode this filly at both of those outstanding trials, and he will know that he has to keep her happy. If he does that, she should be winning on debut and push on to bigger and better races.
