Plunge horse loses Sydney race on protest
The best-backed runner at Rosehill has won and then lost his race on protest with Wayanka’s rider Brenton Avdulla successfully arguing Tye Angland on Interlocuter took his running in the straight.
Godolphin’s Interlocuter was backed from $4.80 to $3 and was first past the post in the tab.com.au handicap (1400m) by a long head.
Avdulla said Interlocuter shifted out and closed a run that was rightfully his around the 250m.
Stewards agreed Wayanka ($15) would have won had he not had to then divert around another horse.
Former French horse Interlocuter has now had four starts in Australia for two wins and two seconds and was backed into favouritism on the back of two recent barrier trial wins.
