Plate hopeful Riven Light wins at Listowel
Cox Plate hopeful Riven Light has continued his progression with a smooth win in an 1800m race at Listowel in Ireland.
Trained by Willie Mullins, Riven Light plied his trade over hurdles when he arrived from France but with his attentions switched to the flat, he has made giant strides, winning a big pot at Galway over 1700m.
Upped to Listed level for one of the feature races on the fourth day of the Harvest Festival on Wednesday (Thursday AEST), he never looked in any danger under Kevin Manning.
The 11-8 favourite put the race to bed some way out and while the Dermot Weld-trained Zawraq closed to within three-quarters of a length, he never looked like winning.
Mullins has entered Riven Light for the Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate.
