NRL Round 24 betting update and premiership odds
There is plenty yet to play for in the final fortnight of home-and-away games in the 2019 NRL Premiership season.
The last two spots in the top eight are still up for grabs, while the top four is far from settled.
Round 24 NRL odds and market news come courtesy of Sportsbet.com.au – one of Australia’s best betting sites.
North Queensland Cowboys vs Canterbury Bulldogs
North Queensland knocked off a finals contender last week, but can they do it again when they host a fast-finishing Canterbury side on Thursday night? Online bookmakers give the Cowboys a slight edge at $1.72, giving the Bulldogs $2.10 to make it five wins on the bounce.
New Zealand Warriors vs South Sydney Rabbitohs
While NZ’s finals hopes were dashed with their defeat to Cronulla last time out, Souths reignited their hopes of a top-four finish by beating the Broncos in Brisbane. The Bunnies are $1.46 favourites to win in Auckland, leaving the Warriors with $2.65 odds at home.
Brisbane Broncos vs Parramatta Eels
Brisbane’s spot in the top eight is in jeopardy after their loss to South Sydney, so they will need to bring their A-game when they face a Parramatta side looking to secure a home final. The Broncos are favoured at $1.63, with the Eels at $2.25 following last week’s loss to the Dogs. See our Broncos vs Eels preview here.
Newcastle Knights vs Gold Coast Titans
The City of Gold Coast has wrapped up the wooden spoon in both the AFL and the NRL this year, but the Titans can still have an impact on the finals race. They are paying $3.75 to upset the $1.26 Newcastle Knights, who must win at Cbus Super Stadium to have any chance of reaching the top eight.
Manly Sea Eagles vs Melbourne Storm
It was only a few weeks ago that Manly announced their premiership candidacy with a win at AAMI Park. The high-flying Sea Eagles are paying $2.15 to repeat that feat at Lottoland on Saturday, with the Melbourne Storm offering $1.68 to sew up the minor flag with a week to spare.
Sydney Roosters vs Penrith Panthers
It already looks a sure thing, but Sydney can certain of a top-two finish with a win over Penrith. The Roosters are the best-backed team of the round at $1.20, with the Panthers giving up $4.40 to keep their finals hopes alive with an upset win at the SCG. See our Roosters vs Panthers preview here.
Cronulla Sharks vs Canberra Raiders
Cronulla can put one fin in the finals with a win over Canberra, who are still on track for a top-four finish despite losing to Manly last time out. The match betting is tight, with the Sharks at $2.05 and the Raiders at $1.76.
St George Illawarra Dragons vs Wests Tigers
As per Cronulla vs Canberra, the bookies are finding it hard to split St George Illawarra ($2.05) and Wests ($1.76). The Dragons have lost seven of their last eight games, while the Tigers can still make the finals if they win at the SCG on Sunday.
2019 NRL Premiership odds
Nothing much has changed at the top end of betting for the 2019 NRL Grand Final winner, where the Roosters continue to lead the way at $2.50. The Eels have fallen from $19 to $31 after the loss to the Dogs, leaving the Sharks on the sixth line at $26. The Bulldogs and the Knights are hanging in at $201, while the Warriors have dropped out of the market altogether.
