NRL Round 21 market update and premiership odds
This week is shaping up as a juicy one for NRL punters.
The away team will start as the favourite in not one, not two, but six of eight games, meaning plenty of tight markets with tempting odds for the home sides.
Without further ado, let’s look at the latest match prices at Sportsbet – one of Australia’s best NRL betting sites.
North Queensland Cowboys vs Brisbane Broncos
7:50pm AEST Thursday, August 8 at 1300SMILES Stadium
Both these teams were smashed last week, with the Cowboys going down 28-4 to Wests and the Broncos losing 40-4 against Melbourne. The bookies are giving Brisbane a slight edge at $1.80, with North Queensland paying $2 on their own deck. See our Cowboys vs Broncos preview here.
New Zealand Warriors vs Manly Sea Eagles
8pm NZST Friday, August 9 at Mt Smart Stadium
NZ are a long way back in the finals race after consecutive defeats to Parramatta and Canberra, while Manly have won three in a row to put real pressure on the top four. The Sea Eagles are well backed at $1.45, leaving the Warriors at decent odds of $2.70 at home.
Penrith Panthers vs Cronulla Sharks
7:55pm AEST Friday, August 9 at Panthers Stadium
Penrith have gone from zeroes to heroes and back again, following up seven straight wins with losses to Canberra and Canterbury. Cronulla are finding form at the right time of the year, which is why they are paying $1.68 to bump off the $2.15 Panthers. See our Panthers vs Sharks preview here.
St George Illawarra Dragons vs Gold Coast Titans
3pm AEST Saturday, August 10 at Jubilee Stadium
These are the two worst teams in the NRL right now. St George Illawarra have lost five games on the bounce, while Gold Coast have not won in six. The Dragons are slated at $1.33 to snap their streak with a home win over the Titans, who are giving up $3.25.
Parramatta Eels vs Newcastle Knights
5:30pm AEST Saturday, August 10 at Bankwest Stadium
The Eels are tracking well after five wins from their last six games, but Newcastle have lost five in a row to slide to 11th place. The Eels are offering $1.66 at Fortress Bankwest, with the Knights at $2.17 to turn things around on the road. See our Eels vs Knights preview here.
Canterbury Bulldogs vs Wests Tigers
7:35pm AEST Saturday, August 10 at ANZ Stadium
Canterbury’s win over the Panthers was their third two-pointer in five games, but how will they fare against a Wests side that jumped into the eight with last week’s mauling of NQC? The Bulldogs are paying $2.40 to upstage the $1.57 Tigers.
Canberra Raiders vs Sydney Roosters
2pm AEST Sunday, August 11 at GIO Stadium
Canberra have shored up their top-four position with four wins on the bounce, while Sydney are back in business after three consecutive wins of their own. The Roosters are $1.80 favourites on the road, leaving the Raiders with $2 in another tight market. See our Raiders vs Roosters preview here.
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Melbourne Storm
4:05pm AEST Sunday, August 11 at Central Coast Stadium
NRL Round 21 closes with two of the competition’s heavyweights in direct combat up in Gosford, but the money is all going one way. Melbourne have firmed into $1.49 on the back of last week’s demolition of the Broncos, while Souths are out to $2.57 after a big loss to the Sharks.
2019 NRL Premiership odds
The Raiders are the team to watch at the top end, as they have firmed from $10 into $8.50 and could leapfrog the drifting Rabbitohs ($8) with another win this week. The Sharks ($19) and the Eels ($21) have both shortened, but there is still daylight between them and the fifth-placed Sea Eagles at $10. The Panthers ($41) and the Broncos ($51) have both moved out, while bookies have officially stopped taking bets on the Titans.
