NBL Multi of the Week – Round 6 odds, tips and value bets

2018/19 NBL betting tips

PERTH Wildcats remain the team to beat as we enter week six of the 2018/19 NBL season.

The West Australian franchise now sits two games clear at the top of the table after wins over Brisbane Bullets and Illawarra Hawks last week.

They got a helping hand from the Hawks, who saw off second-placed Melbourne United earlier in the round.

Online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au still has United as $2.70 favourites for the title, however, with Sydney Kings ($3) and the Wildcats ($3.50) not far behind.

Let’s have a look this week’s NBL odds and see if we can find some value for our basketball multi bets.

New Zealand Breakers vs. Melbourne United

Friday, November 16 at ILT Stadium Southland, Invercargill

Match odds
Breakers $2.25
United $1.65

Line betting
Breakers +2.5 at $1.90
United -2.5 at $1.90

NZ were among the better performers in round five, smashing Cairns Taipans 104-81 at home and then snatching a one-point win away at Brisbane.

Those results leave them well poised on the last rung of the top four as they prepare for big clashes with Melbourne and Sydney this week.

United slipped up at Illawarra, but they bounced back with a dominant display at Melbourne Arena to beat the Taipans 87-80.

In good news for the title favourites, both Chris Goulding and David Barlow are back in the squad for the first-ever NBL clash down in Invercargill.

With those two returning, we like United for the Little Win option in the margin betting at Sportsbet.

Adelaide United vs. Illawarra Hawks

Saturday, November 17 at Titanium Security Stadium, Adelaide

Match odds
36ers $1.38
Hawks $3.07

Line betting
36ers -5.5 at $1.90
Hawks +5.5 at $1.90

Adelaide’s rough start to the season was compounded by an 81-93 home defeat to the Kings last time out.

Now sitting on three wins and six losses, the 36ers need to start putting runs on the board at the Titanium Security if they want to stay in touch with Perth, Melbourne, et al.

A win over United has given the Hawks some hope, and few could blame them for going down 81-90 to the Wildcats over in Perth.

With the Sixers looking vulnerable as they recover from a rotten stretch of away games, this is the kind of clash Illawarra have to win to become finals contenders.

Adelaide should do the job at home, but the 5.5 line is a little too rich for our blood.

Cairns Taipans vs. Perth Wildcats

Saturday, November 17 at Cairns Convention Centre

Match odds
Taipans $2.25
Wildcats $1.65

Line betting
Taipans +2.5 at $1.90
Wildcats -2.5 at $1.90

Cairns have lost six in a row to sit bottom of the NBL ladder with one win from seven games.

Worse still, their average losing margin this season is 10.7 points at the Snakepit and 11.7 overall.

At the other, much happier end of the spectrum, the Wildcats are cruising after seven wins in eight outings.

Brisbane gave them a little bit of a rumble in the Jungle last week, but the league leaders did enough to win that before claiming a comfortable win away at Illawarra.

Perth have covered the line as favourites in each of their last five Saturday games, so that’s where our money is.
