Mishani Bullitt to carry full weight
Promising colt Mishani Bullitt’s reputation as a tricky horse means he will carry his full handicap of 59kg at Doomben with trainer Chris Anderson resisting the temptation to put a claiming apprentice on the three-year-old.
Anderson accepted with Mishani Bullitt in Saturday’s Three-Year-Old Handicap (1350m) and the Class Three Plate (1350m).
Despite his big weight in the Three-Year-Old and 55kg in the Plate, Anderson decided to keep him to his own age group and book senior rider Brad Stewart.
“Mishani Bullitt can be a tricky horse to ride. I did consider claiming on him but I didn’t want someone who had never ridden him having the mount,” Anderson said.
“He is still a colt and the penny hasn’t dropped with him just yet. Brad knows exactly how to ride him and it isn’t worth the risk going for an apprentice, just yet.”
Mishani Bullitt was beaten four lengths when fourth behind Snitz at his most recent start at Doomben two weeks ago.
Anderson admits he has his doubts Mishani Bullitt can turn the tables over 1350 metres.
“We have got a bit of ground to make up on Snitz. He beat us fair and square last time. But we are headed to a 1600 metre race in two weeks time and that may be a different story,” he said.
“He is going along nicely and we have the Magic Millions carnival firmly in our sights.”
Trainer Matt Dunn has booked Robbie Fradd for Snitz who will meet Mishani Bullitt 2.5kg worse off at the weights.
