Lindsay Park to increase Gold Coast team

Trainer David Hayes is looking to his Sandown runners to add to the stable’s Gold Coast team.

Lindsay Park will be looking to add to its Gold Coast team with a couple of two-year-old newcomers at Sandown.

Love Lucille and Dark Confidant, set to run in the Ladbrokes Plate (1000m) on Saturday, could join Nomothaj in the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic on January 13 if successful.

Dark Confidant is also an acceptor, along with Graceful Star, in the New Year’s Plate at Flemington on Monday.

Lindsay Park had two runners safely in the field for the $2 million Gold Coast race on January 13 but has decided to rely on Nomothaj while debut Caulfield winner Qafila is to be aimed at the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield in February.

Graceful Star will also be running for a trip to the Gold Coast when she runs on Monday.

Nomothaj will go into the Magic Millions race first-up after running in her second trial at Randwick on Friday which followed a fourth-placed finish in a Rosehill trial last week.

The filly scored a debut win at Flemington in October, lowering the colours of the Tony McEvoy-trained Sunlight who was successful at the Gold Coast last weekend.

Senior Lindsay Park trainer David Hayes said Love Lucille, Dark Confidant and Graceful Star were all promising two-year-olds and he was expecting a forward showing from the trio.

“If one of them win they’ll certainly be going up to the Gold Coast,” Hayes said.

“Love Lucille and Double Confidant have both trialled well at Flemington and then there’s Graceful Star who was unlucky on debut at Moonee Valley.”

Also in contention for the Gold Coast is Memory Bank for the $2 million Magic Millions Three-Year-Old Guineas (1400m).

Memory Bank is a dual acceptor over 1300m on Saturday at Sandown in the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap and at Randwick in the TAB Handicap.

Hayes said he favoured running the filly in Sydney, where she has less weight, with victory to confirm a trip to Queensland.
