Fradd and Lloyd to continue battle

A fortnight is proving a long time when it comes to the Brisbane jockeys premiership.

Jeff Lloyd, who has won the past two premierships, had a comfortable lead in this year’s battle when he went on holidays for two weeks in early December.

But he returned from his break to find Robbie Fradd had been in a purple patch of form, including 5 1/2 winners at a Gold Coast metropolitan meeting, to take the lead.

It was then Fradd’s turn to take a two-week holiday and he will return to riding at Doomben on Saturday to find his lead has been decimated.

Lloyd rode two winners at Ipswich on Wednesday to put him on 43 with Fradd now on 37-1/2.

Both riders have strong books of rides for the Doomben meeting on Saturday.
