Jockey Bakos banned for painkiller use

Queensland apprentice jockey Anna Bakos is the latest jockey to be suspended after taking a prescribed painkiller.

A random test taken after Bakos rode trackwork at Deagon on June 15 revealed traces of morphine and codeine.

Bakos told stewards she had taken Panadeine Forte after dental undergoing dental surgery.

At least five Queensland jockeys or trackwork riders have recently tested positive after taking medication for pain relief.

Bakos, who has been in good form on provincial tracks since relocating from NSW earlier this year, was banned for two weeks, a time frame which expires on Tuesday.
