Jim Byrne suspended for careless riding

Jockey Jim Byrne has been suspended for seven days after being found guilty of careless riding at Doomben.

Byrne rode Roasted and was charged with causing interference to Euro Belle at the 500m.

He was found guilty and suspended for seven days to start on Saturday night and expire next Saturday.

Unless Byrne appeals, he will miss the Doomben meeting next Saturday which features three stakes races.

Brad Stewart was one of four jockeys fined for excessive whip use.

Stewart was fined $1500 because of his poor record under the whip rules.
