India v Australia final betting preview

After six weeks of cricket held across India, we have finally reached the conclusion of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 as India host Australia in the World Cup Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Indians have been installed a short-favourite by bookmakers, priced at $1.43 to defeat the Australians ($2.80), who defeated South Africa in their semifinal.

The World Cup final is expected to be played in front a packed crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium, with the atmosphere expected to be electric at the Indian home of cricket.

India team news

After completing the World Cup pool stage unbeaten, India continued their dominant run through the semi-finals as they beat New Zealand by 70 runs.

Led by centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, India set the imposing total of 397 to win. Equally impressive with the ball, India were able to keep New Zealand under the required run rate, as Mohammed Shami tore through the batting line-up, taking 7-57 as New Zealand fell well short.

Living up to the pressure and expectation as favourites to take out the Cricket World Cup, India have shown barely any weakness throughout this tournament. Don’t expect any changes to the side for the final.

Australia team news

The Aussies booked their spot in the final following a tense three wicket win over South Africa in a low scoring affair. Following an excellent spell with the new ball, the Aussies were able to limit South Africa to just 212.

Chasing the total, Travis Head scored a quick 60 at the top of the order, while minor contributions throughout the innings saw the score chased down with 2.4 overs to spare.

Winning their last eight matches, the Aussies are probably shaded only by India as the in-form team. Expect the line-up to stay the same, with the only possible change being the inclusion of all-rounder Marcus Stoinis in favour of Marnus Labuschagne.

India v Australia betting preview and tips

After comfortably losing to India in their opening match of the World Cup, few would have expected the complete change in form that the Aussies have had. A much different side to the one we saw at the start of the World Cup, the Aussies will be confident of a better performance on the big stage.

For India, they have rarely been challenged this World Cup and have shown quality across all areas of the ground. They should be too strong as they look to win their first major trophy since 2013. Back in the hosts at $1.45 with Boombet.

Experienced at the top of the order, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has to opportunity to lift the biggest prize in cricket in front of his home fans. Expect him to lead the way with the bat as he continues his exceptional tournament. Back him in as the Indian top run scorer at $3.75 with online bookmakers.

Following a match winning innings against South Africa, Aussie opener Travis Head looks in great touch heading into the final. Known for attacking at the top of the order, Head loves to make the most of the powerplay restrictions by feasting on any loose bowling. At $5 he is great value as the Australian top run scorer with cricket bookmakers.

With the Australian’s known for their weakness against spin bowling, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja looks like a dangerous option. Bowling left arm off spin, Jadeja troubles batsmen by cramping them up and building pressure with his consistency. He led India with three wickets in the previous matchup and looks a major threat again in this final as the Indian top wicket taker at $6 with Ladbrokes.

For Australia, a big performance is needed by their fast bowlers and the dangerous Mitchell Starc. After famously taking a wicket in the first over of the 2015 World Cup Final, Starc has the experience and skill required to flip a match with a lethal spell. He was excellent in the semi-final and we are backing him to bring his best once again as the Australian top wicket taker at $4.33.
