India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match preview
The non-stop 2024 ICC T20 World Cup action continues early on Monday morning as storied rivals India plays Pakistan at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
India enters this match as clear favourites at -250 with Bet365, with Pakistan offering a value selection at +215.
It was a positive start to the tournament for Rahul Dravid’s side as they convincingly beat Ireland by eight wickets. Bowling first, it was an excellent display of pace bowling as they bowled out the opposition for just 96 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma led the chase with 52* as they chased down the total in 12.2 overs.
With a team filled with IPL talent, the top cricket bookmakers have high expectations for India this tournament, as they are the current favourites at +130 to lift the trophy.
One concern for the Indians was Sharma retiring hurt after copping a blow to the arm in their chase against Ireland, but he has confirmed he will be fine for this clash.
On the other hand, it was a horror start to the tournament for Pakistan as they fell to the USA. Batting first, they set 159 to win, but in a poor bowling performance they struggled to take wickets, allowing the Americans to send the match to a super over. Fast bowler Mohammed Amir struggled under pressure bowling seven wides in a 18-run over, while their batsmen fell short with just 13 in reply.
Entering the tournament there was plenty of potential for Pakistan to do well. However, this result has seen the bookies lose faith, with their odds to lift the trophy drifting out to as far as +2400.
After such a poor performance expect changes to the side. All-rounder Imad Wasim was ruled out of the opener and may be available, while Abram Ahmed and Mohammad Abbas Afridi are other potential bowling options in the squad.

India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Picks
In cricket’s biggest rivalry, it has always been close in the rare occasion these countries face off, yet the current gap between the sides seems bigger than ever. In T20 matches this year Pakistan have a record of 5-10, whereas India have won all four of their matches. On all fronts, India should be too strong, so back them in at -250 with Neds.
As India’s record top scorer in T20 matches, opening batsman Virat Kohli will be disappointed after he scored just one run against Ireland. Coming off an IPL campaign where he won the Orange Cap for the most runs, Kohli is still in excellent form and the most dangerous batsman in this Indian side. Last time these sides played Kohli scored a match-winning 82*, so back him in to score 50+ runs at +275 with PlayUp.
On the other side, Pakistan’s all-time T20 runscorer Babar Azam had a mixed start to his tournament as he scored 44 runs but chewed up 43 deliveries. Another player who has moved up from number three to open the batting, it seems like the only way Pakistan can compete in this match is if Azam is able to put on a good score. He averages over 30, with a high score of 68* against India, so back him to score 30+ runs at +110 with top Australian bookies.
