Don’t Give A Damn in frame for Highway
Danny Williams is looking for a change of luck in his next Highway Handicap experience at Rosehill.
The Goulburn trainer has had little of it in photo-finishes in his past two forays to town for the races restricted to country horses.
Don’t Give A Damn, the $2.25 TAB favourite for Saturday’s 1500-metre Highway, was the first hard luck story when Suncraze prevailed by a half-head on September 9 and seven days later She Knows was pipped by a nose by Larlabrook.
“We thought we won both, both jockeys, everyone,” Williams said.
“We celebrated after the (She Knows) race when we went past the winning post. It’s not a very good feeling.”
Williams was confident Don’t Give A Damn could make it third time lucky after he bounced back well from his narrow defeat over 1200m.

“I think he’s come out of his Rosehill run better than he came out of his (debut) Goulburn run,” he said.
“He’s taken improvement.”
Williams said the four-year-old had already improved dramatically after he had issues with the barriers before he started his racing career on September 1.
“We did a fair bit of work on him and he’s come a long way. He was nervous and had quite a bit of anxiety,” he said.
He’s not as feisty now,.
“He’s certainly a promising horse.”
