The Sydney Swans will host the Collingwood Magpies at the SCG this Saturday night in what will be one of the biggest matches in round 20.

Both sides were unable to notch a victory last week, which makes this match all the more important.

Sydney is coming off two of the poorest weeks in the club’s recent history, having lost to the lowly Gold Coast Suns in round 18 and the Bombers at Etihad last week.

Collingwood went through hell last week with yet another spate of injuries. Before Jeremy Howe and Matt Scharenberg went down, the Pies looked like pulling off the upset against Richmond, but the defenders proved irreplaceable in the heat of the battle.

This match will see injury-riddled Swan, Alex Johnson, finally return to senior football. Johnson hasn’t played a game for the Swans since the 2012 Grand Final victory. This amazing comeback will revitalise a group that needs an emotional lift.

The Magpies are in a tough predicament at the moment in the back half — enter debutant Jack Madgen.

Madgen is a Category B rookie who played college basketball in America before trialling with the Pies and accepting a contract.
