Best bets for David Warner
As one of world cricket’s biggest names, Warner is well backed in just about every cricket betting market for which he is quoted. Below are the bets we think he is a red-hot chance to win.
Man of the match: He opens the innings, he takes the game on, he wins games before anyone has had a chance to stop him. That’s why Warner is always among the favourite in MOTM betting. If you can get odds of better than +600 in any given match, you should think about taking them.
Top Australia batsman: Again, playing at the top of the batting order gives Warner a big advantage over his teammates in this category. As such, it is very rare to see him paying more than +300 to top score for the Aussies. Don’t mind form: he is always a decent bet.

Warner’s story is one of the most unique in Australian cricket. A prodigiously gifted ballstriker from the Sydney suburb of Paddington, he switched between left-handed and right-handed batting stances during his junior days before following his mother’s advice and settling on the former option in his mid-teens. That ambidextrous upbringing comes through in Warner’s trademark switch-hit, where he pivots into a right-handed position as the bowler releases the ball.
Despite breaking several age-group records and making his first-grade debut at 15 years of age, Warner had to wait until 2007 for his chance at state level. Within two years he had established himself as one of the most talented hitters in the country and earned callups to Australia’s limited-overs sides. Remarkably, Warner made his T20 and One Day International debuts before he had played a single first-class game for New South Wales.
For many years, the one they call ‘Lloyd’ was viewed as a destructive yet temperamental opener whose abilities were best suited to the white ball. His form in the shorter formats made Test selection an inevitability by 2011, when he made his debut against New Zealand at Brisbane. The doubters harked up after a pair of failures in that game, but he responded by carrying his bat with 123 not out in a valiant rescue effort in Hobart. Three Tests later, he wowed the galleries at the WACA en route to a memorable 180 from only 159 balls in a match-defining knock against India.
Since then, Warner has become one of world cricket’s most prolific and entertaining batsmen. Among Australian openers, only Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer and Mark Taylor have scored more runs in Test cricket – all left-handers, incidentally. He is also a bona fide superstar in the Indian Premier League T20 competition, where he captained Sunrisers Hyderabad to a maiden IPL title in 2016, and a drawcard performer for Australia at the ICC Cricket World Cup and the World T20.
