The Penrith Panthers will travel to Suncorp Stadium as the competition’s only unbeaten side when they take on the Brisbane Broncos in round six of the 2021 NRL season. So heavy is the disparity between the two clubs, the home team are in danger of breaking a record for the longest price for an underdog in an NRL game. The Panthers continue to be one of the only teams who have no issues with injury, and if they are serious, the -27.5 handicap won’t be anywhere near enough to make punters err on the side of caution.
Key matchup: Brodie Croft vs Jarome Luai
Anthony Milford was once what Jarome Luai is now, and you can’t help but feel disappointed in the Brisbane five-eighth’s play for the last two seasons. The Broncos have dropped Milford for this game and recalled Brodie Croft, who has been a huge disappointment since his much-hyped move from the Melbourne Storm at the end of the 2019 season. Milford’s off-the-cuff style might have caused the Panthers some problems, particularly in second-phase play, but Croft’s suspect defence and lack of production sets it up for Luai to have a day out.

Points are going to be hard to come by for the home team, but Jamayne Isaako and Xavier Coates have consistently been their best two players this season in the back line. Coates has been a favourite of ours, and his record backs it up, while we think the stock of Isaako is rising quickly. The +27.5 line doesn’t feel long enough, but at home Brisbane have been respectable in 2021, and Penrith may fall into the trap of doing enough to win and then coasting. We have been stung by giving the Broncos too much respect in recent weeks, but taking them at the line is at least worth considering purely for the home-ground factor.

Penrith Panthers betting info
Brian To’o and Charlie Staines are going to put a few punters through college if they keep crossing the stripe on a regular basis, but throw Viliame Kikau into that mix for this game. He can destroy to the best edge defences in the NRL, so he should have a field day against the Broncos. He is scoring one at the very least, and a double would not shock. Matt Burton should also be included as an anytime tryscorer option if Richie Kennar is his opposite number. A battle of speed versus power should see Burton get his chance to get on the outside via some good work from Jarome Luai.

Broncos vs Panthers betting prediction
The Penrith Panthers will win the game with ease, but we are going to take Brisbane at the line. The Panthers surely have to manage the load some weeks, and they’ll be hoping to get a nice lead before going through the motions.
