Big names to gallop at Moonee Valley
Russian Revolution (left) will gallop at Moonee Valley ahead of the Group One Moir Stakes.
Russian Revolution will be one of the headline horses at a trackwork session at Moonee Valley in preparation for the Group One Moir Stakes.
Friday’s Moonee Valley meeting, featuring the Moir Stakes, is the first night program of the season in Melbourne and a host of horses set to compete are listed to gallop at the course on Monday morning.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Russian Revolution is one of the likely leading chances in the Moir after his first-up win in the McEwen Stakes at the same track earlier this month.
The Robert Smerdon-trained Ability, who is also scheduled to contest the Moir, is another listed to gallop as is Vega Magic.
Friday’s meeting also features the Group Two Stutt Stakes (1600m) for three-year-olds, the Group Two Stocks Stakes (1600m) for mares, the Group Three JRA Cup (2040m) and Group Three Scarborough Stakes (1200m) for fillies.
Queensland filly Houtzen, who is scheduled to have her second-up run on Friday night ahead of a planned tilt at the $10 million Everest in Sydney on October 14, is another of the horses down to work on Monday.
