Axiomatic a future star without question

Axiomatic has a family reputation to live up to and the filly has shown she is on the way with a strong win at Warwick Farm.

The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old is a half-sister to New Zealand Group One winner Xtravagant and multiple Group One placegetter He’s Remarkable.

She was sent out the $2.20 favourite in Wednesday’s 1600m-race for three-year-olds on the strength of a 7-1/4 length win at Kembla Grange on December 10.

Axiomatic finished strongly from back in the field to beat Gothenburg ($11) by a length with Waller predicting better races ahead in the autumn and winter.

“The last 100 metres certainly showed her class,” Waller told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

“I think she’s got the makings of a really nice middle distance horse. She’s got a lovely long, loping action, gets her head down low and I think that will see her stretch out to 2000 metres.”

“He’s (Xtravagant) obviously the pin-up boy from New Zealand at the moment and I think she’s well on the way to doing some of those things herself.”

Axiomatic is by multiple New Zealand champion sire, the late O’Reilly, while her two famous siblings are by Pentire, sire of 2015 Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance.

Despite a less than flattering Melbourne spring campaign, Xtravagant is back in work with a view to the autumn while He’s Remarkable stands at Mapperley Stud.

Trained by Roger James, He’s Remarkable was relegated to second in the 2011 Group One Railway Stakes in Perth after a controversial protest.

James Innes took the outright lead in the Sydney apprentices’ premiership with a winning double at Warwick Farm on the Rob Potter-trained Murragulderie and Modha for his master Gerald Ryan.

Innes is now on 12 metropolitan wins for the season, two clear of Deanne Panya and Andrew Adkins.

All three have rides in the Listed Canterbury Stakes on Saturday with Innes to ride veteran sprinter Decision Time, Panya the Joe Pride-trained I Am Zelady and Adkins Boss Lane for his master Ron Quinton.
