AFLW Round 6 odds, betting tips & market news
Three teams are tied favourites for the flag as we enter the second half of the 2021 AFLW Premiership season, and a couple of early contenders need to get a move on if they want to make the finals. Let’s take a look at the latest AFLW betting markets ahead of round six.
AFLW Round 6 betting odds and predictions
Richmond Tigers $6 vs North Melbourne Kangaroos $1.12
Richmond beat Geelong in stunning fashion last week to bring up the club’s first AFLW win, and we think that winning feeling could give the team a huge boost against the Roos here. North Melbourne should get this victory and move into the top six, but if the Tigers play with the same confidence from last weekend, they won’t be an easy beat.
Richmond +24.5
GWS Giants $5.75 vs Brisbane Lions $1.13
The Brisbane Lions accomplished something that many AFLW experts believed was impossible when they beat Fremantle in Perth last weekend, dealing the Dockers their first loss in two years. The Giants lost to the Bulldogs by 25 points last week, and the form lines suggest the Lions can get up by a similar margin.
Brisbane Lions -22.5
Adelaide Crows $1.04 vs Gold Coast Suns $10
If you didn’t catch the Crows in round five, they tore St Kilda apart. Their defensive structures were impenetrable, and the Saints are a much stronger side than Gold Coast. This could be the biggest percentage boost the Crows get this season, as the inexperienced Suns won’t have the skill to get around Adelaide’s defence.
Adelaide by 40+ points
Melbourne Demons $1.24 vs St Kilda Saints $3.95
This is one game that could result in an upset as the Saints look to bounce back after a shocking defeat to the Crows. The Demons were inaccurate against Collingwood last week and struggled to defend deep forward entries. We still think the Dees will get the job done, but you cannot underestimate the Saints.
Melbourne by 1-39 points
Carlton Blues $1.10 vs Geelong Cats $6.50
Two big midfield changes will occur for this match. Last year’s AFLW Best and Fairest winner, Madison Prespakis, returns for the Blues, while 2020 AFLW All Australian star Olivia Purcell suffered an ACL injury for Geelong last week. We know the Cats will struggle without Purcell in the middle, which is why we think the Blues will win this match by a big margin.
Carlton by 40+ points
Collingwood Magpies $1.31 vs Western Bulldogs $3.35
This is another game that could be an upset, as the Bulldogs are on fire and there could be trouble in the Magpies’ forward half. Collingwood’s goalkicking superstar Chloe Molloy suffered a late knock to her shoulder in round five, but it appears she will play in this match. With Jordan Membrey injuring her ACL last week, Molloy’s absence would be a huge blow for the Pies. The Bulldogs have won four straight games, but will need to be at their best to defeat the unbeaten Magpies.
Collingwood to win
West Coast Eagles $10.50 vs Fremantle Dockers $1.04
Due to ongoing COVID issues regarding travel to and from WA, the Eagles and Dockers will play for the second time this season. In the first match between these teams, it poured with torrential rain as the Eagles went down by only nine points. However, in perfect conditions following an uncharacteristic loss from Fremantle, we could see some punishment this Sunday.
Fremantle -34.5
AFLW 2021 Premiership market update
Sitting on top of the AFLW ladder with five wins in five rounds are the Collingwood Magpies, who have not looked like dropping a game this season. They join the Adelaide Crows and Fremantle Dockers as $4.50 favourites, as online bookmakers cannot split the trio. The Demons fall to $10 from $7 after losing to Collingwood, while the Western Bulldogs hold strong at $15 after four consecutive wins.
