The 2021/22 A-League season continues this weekend with a busy fixture of catchup games, but there is still more than enough action for a matchweek 18 preview.

Five matches are scheduled to take place over the weekend and on Tuesday, but only three remain from the original matchweek 18 fixtures, so they will be the matches we focus on this week.

Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix

Saturday, March 12 at 5:05pm AEDT – Moreton Daily Stadium, Brisbane

These two sides faced off less than a month ago at Leichhardt Oval, where Wellington Phoenix took home a massive 3-0 victory over the visitors. Despite winning their last clash with ease, Phoenix will enter this contest as underdogs. Phoenix are also coming off a 3-2 win over the Newcastle Jets on Wednesday, whilst the Roar have won just one of their last five soccer matches.

Macarthur FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers

Saturday, March 12 at 7:45pm AEDT – Campbelltown Stadium, Sydney
Just as Macarthur looked like they would strengthen their position at the top end of the standings, they lost their last two matches and blew a perfect opportunity to sit inside the top four. We do think they will swiftly snap their losing streak in this clash with the Wanderers, as they have never lost against Western Sydney.

Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets

Sunday, March 13 at 7:15pm AEDT – Coopers Stadium, Adelaide
We thought Adelaide United was a strong side earlier in the season, but we recently went cold on the reds. That was a big mistake as they have won three of their last four matches and should bring home the chocolates in this contest as well. The Newcastle Jets did beat United at Coopers Stadium in 2020, but the home side should be too strong on this occasion given their recent form.
