Thursday’s Cricket World Cup clash in Nottingham features two teams that expended minimal energy in their opening games.
Australia had to keep their wits about them after Afghanistan posted 207 on the back of some handy lower-order hitting, but a 96-run opening stand from Aaron Finch and David Warner put the result beyond doubt.
Warner top scored with 89 not out in his first official international appearance since March 2018, while Steven Smith chipped in with 18 late in the piece.

The West Indies had an even easier time of it against Pakistan on Friday, wrapping up a seven-wicket win with only 34.2 overs bowled in the match.
The Pakistani bats could not cope with the four-pronged pace attack of Oshane Thomas (4/27), Jason Holder (3/42), Andre Russell (2/4) and Sheldon Cottrell (1/18), who needed fewer than 22 overs to get the job done.
The Windies chased down the required 106 with some 218 balls to spare, but not before Chris Gayle gave the Trent Bridge crowd something to savour with a quick-fire 50.

David Warner
Man of the match – $8
Top Australia batsman – $3.50
To score 50 or more – $2.10
Both of Australia’s openers played well in Bristol, but it was Warner who stuck around and finished the job. The hard-hitting lefty has a point to prove this summer and looks in excellent touch. See more David Warner odds here.
Chris Gayle
Man of the match – $11
Top West Indies batsman – $3.75
To score 50 or more – $2.25
Not much has changed about Gayle’s game in his two decades as an international player. At 39, the big Jamaican still hits a monster ball and loves to get after the opposition’s opening bowlers.

Pat Cummins
Man of the match – $13
Top Australia bowler – $4.33
Over 39.5 performance pts – $1.90
Cummins delivered the goods in the Afghanistan vs Australia game, finishing with three wickets at less than five runs per over. One suspects the NSW quick will test the Windies’ mettle with plenty of short stuff. See more Pat Cummins odds here.
Oshane Thomas
Man of the match – $21
Top West Indies bowler – $4.50
Over 22.5 performance pts – $1.90
The delivery that dismissed Mohammad Hafeez last Friday should serve as a warning to every batsman at this year’s Cricket World Cup. Thomas hits the bat as hard as anybody, so the Aussies better have their footwork sorted.
Australia vs West Indies CWC 2019 predictions
This has the potential to be one of the matches of the tournament. The Aussies have great flexibility in their bowling, especially with both Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis in the XI, while the Windies bat as deep as anyone. The touch of class that Smith and Warner bring should see the green and gold to victory.
