Winx headlines field of nine for G1 Ryder
Champion Winx is set to have up to eight rivals when she attempts to win the George Ryder Stakes for a fourth straight year on her home track at Rosehill.
The George Ryder is one of five Group One races on Saturday’s program which is highlighted by the Golden Slipper, the world’s richest race for two-year-olds.
Winx is unbeaten in her past 31 starts and will be a short-priced favourite to claim her 24th Group One win.
The mare has drawn barrier eight in the field of nine for the 1500m Ryder with her opposition including Group One Toorak Handicap winner Land Of Plenty, last-start Liverpool City Cup winner Dreamforce and three-year-olds Brutal and Ringerdingding.
Ringerdingding is one of three of Winx’s Chris Waller-trained stablemates in the Ryder field although Egg Tart is also an acceptor for the Ranvet Stakes.
The Waller-trained star three-year-old colt The Autumn Sun headlines a field of 13 for the Group One Rosehill Guineas and he has drawn barrier three.
A field of 15 has been declared for the Group One Ranvet Stakes (2000m) while dual Everest winner Redzel headlines the field of 13 for the Group One Galaxy.
Redzel has topweight of 59.5kg and has drawn barrier six in the 1100m handicap.
