Two powerhouse AFL sides will face off this Friday night at Marvel Stadium as the Western Bulldogs host the Geelong Cats in a must-win contest.
Both teams currently sit inside the top eight as we approach the bye rounds, with the Cats slightly ahead in sixth, while the Western Bulldogs are just sitting inside the finals cut-off in eighth-place.
Round 11 was a percentage-boosting weekend for both sides, as the Cats beat the Crows by 42-points at Kardinia Park, while the Bulldogs obliterated the Eagles by 101-points in Perth.
Luke Beveridge’s men tied an illusive record last week, as 16 individual players kicked a goal as they totalled 161 points, showcasing how dangerous and versatile their list is.
The Geelong Cats were slightly less impressive in their round 11 performance, but they still looked like a premiership-calibre side against an underrated opposition.
There is no telling how far this Western Bulldogs team can go now that Tim English is back in the ruck rotation, but this week’s match will be an excellent test to see if they are still the real deal.

Key matchup: Aaron Naughton vs Jeremy Cameron
The race for the Coleman Medal is starting to heat up with each passing round, and these two key forwards will be eager to make their mark this Friday night. Aaron Naughton is one of the hardest men in the league to stop right now, having kicked 14 goals across his last four matches. Jeremy Cameron is going at a similar pace with 13 goals in the same time-span, except he has a bag of five to his name.
Neither team has a genuine key defender that matches up well with these athletic forwards, which could spell trouble for both sides. Jeremy Cameron has more potential to kick a large total given his accuracy, while Naughton will cause headaches in the air with his sticky hands. You can back in either one of these forwards to star in front of the goals and you will most likely be rewarded.
Western Bulldogs vs Geelong Cats betting tips
Geelong Cats 1-39
The Cats will most likely have to face the elite Bulldogs midfield without Patrick Dangerfield, but we think they have enough phenomenal defenders to comfortably repel most offensive thrusts. The likes of Tom Stewart, Mark Blicavs and the rapidly-improving Sam De Koning have held down the fort well this season, and we suspect they will get the job done again this Friday night.
Geelong Cats 1-39
Joel Selwood 25+ disposals
Although Joel Selwood’s prime has been and gone, he is still a very handy midfielder who can rack up plenty of disposals. The tough nut collected 24 touches against Adelaide last week, which was still a great effort considering the Crows had a big advantage in the ruck. Look out for Selwood to use his hard head to win plenty of contested possessions against the top-shelf Bulldogs midfield.

Western Bulldogs vs Geelong Same game multi picks
We are tipping the outsiders this week at Marvel Stadium, as Jeremy Cameron is going to be too hard for the Bulldogs to stop inside 50. Joel Selwood will lead by example once again to help his Cats register an important victory.
Geelong 1-39 / Selwood 25+ disposals / Cameron 3+ goals
