US Open 2024 men’s title tips, value picks & roughie bets
The final Grand Slam of the year gets underway on Monday, with the world’s best tennis players converging on New York for the US Open. We look at the best outright bets for the men’s draw, based on the latest odds from bookmaker Marantelli Bet.
Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz has won the last two Grand Slams and comes to New York having won the tournament in 2022. His credentials are clear, but it is question marks over his two biggest rivals — Jannik Sinner (doping scandal) and Novak Djokovic (motivation concerns) — make him the best bet to win the 2024 US Open.
Carlos Alcaraz to win
Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev has been the most consistent performer on the ATP Tour this year, making a semi-final, final and round of 16 at the first three Grand Slams. He has also won a tour-leading 52 matches in 2024. Should Alcaraz stumble, the two-time major finalist could capitalise.
Alexander Zverev to win
Daniil Medvedev
Russia’s Daniil Medvedev has had a sedate season by his standards, but that is precisely why we are high on his chances at the US Open. The former world No.1 has a track record of not staying down for long, while the faster courts at Flushing Meadows work in the 2021 champion’s favour.
Daniil Medvedev to win
Holger Rune
This time last year, former world No.4 Holger Rune was among the top five betting lines for the US Open. Having struggled with consistency over the past 12 months, he returns to New York as a long shot. His talent is undeniable, however, and when he hits a patch of form, the Dane is unstoppable.
Holger Rune to win
Ben Shelton
Similar to Rune, Ben Shelton is yet to find consistency over the course of the season. One thing he has mastered, though, is harnessing the American crowds. This time last year he went all the way to the semi-finals, and it is not beyond the realm of possibility that he goes a step further in 2024.
Ben Shelton to win
Alexei Popyrin
Admittedly, Alexei Popyrin is yet to achieve anything of note at the Grand Slam level. However, he did just beat five top-20 players in a row — including three from the top 10 — to win the Canadian Open. Grand Slams have been won with less, so those chasing early retirement might be tempted by the $126 odds.
Alexei Popyrin to win
