Trainer John Bary happy with Miss Wilson

Group One-winning mare Miss Wilson has already had one piece of luck as she attempts to become only the third New Zealand-trained horse to win the Tattersall’s Tiara.

The kiwis have a good record in Queensland Group One races but Miss Potential (2004) and La Sizeranne (2006) are the only ones to win the Tiara.

Miss Wilson earned a second trip to Australia when she won the Group One Breeders’ Stakes at Te Aroha on April 7.

She had eight starts for one win during a 2016 stint with Simon Morris in Victoria before being taken back to New Zealand early last year.

Miss Wilson is a half sister to Group One winner and former New Zealand Horse of The Year Jimmy Choux and is already a valuable broodmare proposition.

John Bary, who also trained Jimmy Choux, prepares Miss Wilson who won a trial last week.

She was in the first heat on the Eagle Farm A grass before the track fell apart and the trials were moved to dirt.

“It was a good trial effort and it was good to get it in. We gave her a good hit-out and she needed it,” Bary said.

“She has travelled very well and she should come into barrier eight if the emergencies don’t get a run.”
