The Gold Coast Titans have a daunting task against the in-form Sea Eagles at CBUS Stadium on Saturday, with Manly heading in as hot favourites with NRL bookmakers.
The Titans have been priced at $3.30 to cause an upset, with the eighth-placed Sea Eagles ($1.35) heavily backed to defeat the winless Queensland outfit.
The Titans are coming off a controversial one-point loss to the Raiders last Sunday in Canberra, and their situation has been made worse with first-choice fullback Jayden Campbell (knee) out injured and backup option Phillip Sami (ankle) failing a fitness test. That means AJ Brimson, who was named in the halves, could revert to fullback, paving the way for Tanah Boyd to return to the side.
After a home win over the Panthers and a tough draw against the Warriors in New Zealand, Manly head to Queensland without Ben Trbojevic (hamstring), Toafofoa Sipley (knee) and Josh Aloiai (suspension). Winger Jason Saab is back, Reuben Garrick is likely to cover Trbojevic in the centres, Matthew Lodge returns from an ACL injury to start in the front row, and Aaron Woods will come off the bench.

The Titans have been backed in from as long as $4 with NRL betting sites, presumably given they have won their last two matches against the Sea Eagles as underdogs. However, Tom Trbojevic was injured for both of those games, and Gold Coast are now without star forward Tino Fa’asuamaleaui along with a host of other first-grade players.
The Titans have failed to win each of their last seven matches against teams ranked higher on the NRL ladder, as well as failing to cover the line in seven of their last eight matches. Expect a strong performance from the Sea Eagles to capitalise on a weak Titans outfit, covering the -8.5 handicap at $1.90 with online bookmakers.
Although the Sea Eagles have lost forwards Aloiai and Sipley, the additions of Lodge and Woods will make up for their losses in the middle third. With the spine of Tom Trbojevic, Daly Cherry-Evans and Luke Brooks combined with the attacking upside and goalkicking of Garrick, this should be a high-scoring affair. Look for the Sea Eagles to pile on the points and push the match total over 47.5 ($1.90).
Reuben Garrick has enjoyed strong tryscoring form against the Titans in recent times. Having scored at least one try in six of his last seven matches against them, paired with the fact he will be attacking the defensively inconsistent Brian Kelly, that strong form should continue. Punters can still get great value for Garrick to score a try at any time ($2.20).
